cumbersome inventory

I don't think it's cumbersome at all. Being able to sell things that are stored in your ships hold at shops is a huge QOL improvement.

I enjoy it so far and think I am really going to blast off once I get to open it up a bit more.

I think the one thing that is a big adjustment from Elder Scrolls / Fallout is there is a lack of free and easy exploration. With those you left the first area and the world was open for you to walk around. Just pick a direction and go. Starfield feels a little more boxed in so far (early).

I don't disagree, but I haven't even left Atlantis yet so I'm not sure I can say there's not enough to explore.

The loading screens haven’t really bothered me, tbh. The inventory can be annoyance, I’m getting the hang of it / put some skills into having more capacity so it’s gotten better.

The lack of actual manual space flight between planets and moons within a solar system is bewildering. The entire spaceship layer of this game is nothing but a mirage for fast travel and loading.

You can't actually fly anywhere. The bulk of the Science tree are ship upgrades, and there's an entire in-depth ship building system - all for a non-existent space travel system. Absolutely baffling.

Combat seems fine. Quests and side adventures are the strength so far of this game, as is the case with most Bethesda games.

But the lack of any actual space travel is pretty damn disappointing.

If you have played any BGS game then inventory is always a game within itself.

Fun game. Never expected no man’s sky type space travel nor is flying for 10-20 minutes to travel to planets something I wanted. It would be cool the 1st 1-2 times then I would be smashing instant travel just like I did in all their other games. Etc.

It’s exactly what I expected. BGS in space and many things improved over fallout 4 combat etc.

The more I play, the better it gets. I feel like a big problem with the game is that they don’t go into enough detail explaining all the ins and outs of what you need to know.

I never picked up about how to fast travel in space without opening the map. Then by it seeming like you had to use the map, at first I was fast traveling everywhere even on the planets when eventually I figured out I could just wander in the wilderness from point to point.

Also I don’t remember the crouch and peek feature in combat being explained which would have been nice instead of just firing out in the open.

I do wish I had more space to store things on the Frontier. I haven’t touched shop or outpost building so eventually I’ll have another place to keep things. Just wish you weren’t held to a captains locker on the Frontier that has a limit on the amount of things it can hold.

Overall, it’s a damn good game that is getting better and better the longer I play.

Edit: Just discovered the cargo hold.

Just bought the premium and going in blind, all based off a commercial.

I don't know what this game is or what to expect, it's downloading.

If you can elaborate or point me to a video, much appreciated. I feel like I'm doing things in a cumbersome manner not as devs intended.

Decided to have a good night's rest so I can get a solid 4 hour session in tonight instead of a tired af 2 last night where I barely remember shite.

Seems like a lot of you are saying it'll improve once it opens up...is the main quest not that good?

The more I think about my experience so far the less I agree with that. I've had a lot of fun. I feel the scope is massive already. And it's shaping up to be a 9/10 game.

If you play a few hours like I did and don't feel excited about progressing idk what to tell you.

If any of y'all got the trait where your parents are alive, make sure you find them when you visit New Atlantis. There's an item in your old bedroom.

Backpack with extra storage. I have a better pack for most situations, but this will be handy for the obvious encumbrance situations.

I found the parents before I went to Constellation for the first time and told them I was working for Constellation. The parents were then at Constellation the first time I went there and they gave me a weapon. This just happened to me or I would have mentioned it before.

I have not played the game yet. But agree with general comments here and elsewhere that traveling/load screens can be streamlined or disguised better. Even using the "scanner travel method" as shown in these links. I can only imagine doing everything through the menus would be even more cumbersome.

Yea the one thing about this game is there are no real "highlights" You are going to have to read signs and have some intuition. After about 8 hours, the game design all makes sense. They really want you talking to NPCs. They can tell you where everything is at.

I have over 400 hours in Skyrim and 300 in Fallout 4, so my bias is that whatever I dont actually like, a Mod will surely fix
