Star Wars: The Old Republic Story Trailer

The newest trailer is pretty sick. Some are classifying it as "better than some Star Wars movies" - though the prequels have made that a not-so-high bar

I fully admit, I'm probably one of the very few (if not only) people that play this here. Still, I find it a pretty fun game.

When it came out I was all about it. Played the shite out of it. Was a trooper tank.
Kind of stopped after the story was over. Quit and never went back.
It is probably still fun with all the changes and expansions if I had to guess.

None of that actually happened in Star Wars lore as Disney classified it as Legends content. Some new Star Wars lore such as some episodes of Rebels has already retconned parts of the Old Republic era.
That said, I like the KOTOR era and lore quite a bit, but almost no franchise has handled the transition to MMO without taking a sledgehammer to established lore and SW:TOR is no different. It starts off in fantastic fashion, but endgame quickly falls into the familiar trap of "two factions teaming up to stop ultimate evil," and I just don't buy Jedi and Sith cooperating with one another so easily.
KoTFE and the new expansion really tear down some walls and screw with established lore, but why not? They're basically in their own continuity at this point and the only Legends franchise that still releases new content.

Agreed, and they did a good job of explaining why the two factions are working together (but not even remotely happy about having to do so) - at least a better job than they did with the Revan storyline. WAY better with KOTFE.
The starfighter expansion is probably my favorite, adding starfighter battles to PVP. I wish they would take that engine/mechanic, and apply THAT to the big capital ship fights they had in the "on rails" flight shooter than came with the game.
Honestly, a "raid" that involved ships attacking a capital ship of the Eternal Empire would be amazing.

The engine for SW:TOR is extremely limiting. Piloting a star fighter doesn't feel much different than moving your player character with the obvious exception of a z axis.
As good of a story as KotFE was, the lack of any real group or raid content has killed the game. KotFE felt like the closest thing SW:TOR has had to a real expansion, giving you lots to do to build up your base, but it was a real missed opportunity. You hear about how so much has changed in the core worlds, but you don't see any of it. You can port right back to the Republic/Imperial Fleet that hasn't changed since launch. No new ops or flashpoints have been released in two years. All you get are one hour long story chapters once a month, making SW:TOR feel more like a multiplayer telltale game than anything else.

Eh, I enjoy it. It certainly doesn't require re-learning a new set of mechanics, like flying a plane in BF4 does.
