Chose Maelle's ending because I think Verso is a dick. 
Gonna reload a save and choose Verso to see what the difference is.

Has anyone found a more broken strategy than this for the Simon fight (without using Roulette)? Just ridiculous.
ETA: This strategy also makes Endless Tower a joke (just use Phantom Strike instead of Stendhal)

I found one on Reddit yesterday because Simon was pissing me off.
One shot him with Rendahl to open the fight. Cue cutscene.
Hit him and broke him with Verso's Strike Breaker, then another Stendahl ended it in the 2nd phase.

Looks like a very similar strategy to the one in the YouTube video in my post. The only real difference appears to be using Verso to "break" Simon in Phase 2 as opposed to Monoco.
Did you finish the Endless Tower in NG before jumping to NG+?

Yes.
Went back to level up before facing Simon and you get 0 XP for beating the stages again.

Thank you for posting this. I looked at a bunch of different builds and Simon was just owning me. After I switched to this, one hit each stage.
It was the last thing I needed to do for the Platinum trophy. That and the journal he was hoarding.

Noticing some chroma rocks in the early stages of the NG+. You don't keep the ability to break them on the restart.

People who are saying the Verso ending is the morally correct choice must have healthy familial relationships. I just finished my 2nd playthrough after not playing for a few weeks and I chose the Mael ending for the 2nd time.
A choice between reality where My beloved brother is dead, fricked up parents, a fricked up family and I can't talk and have a fricked up face, vs a fantasy world where i have a life, loved ones, I'm not a burn victim and I have an actual voice?
Easy choice, especially considering the Verso in my fantasy world isn't actually real? Yeah frick him and my fricked up "reality" family.

Just finished my playthrough last night. What a freaking game! This game sold so well that I had to wait a few weeks for a physical copy to be back in stock. I was not expecting the second layer of the story after defeating the paintress, what a nice twist. Kind of reminds me of the huge plot twist in Attack on Titan if anyone has read/watched that. I ended up with the Verso ending. Was originally going to go with Maelle, but I felt real Verso deserved to sleep in peace rather than what was left of his soul be tethered to an imaginary world.

Technically the Verso ending is the "better" one for the Dessendre family because it gets all of them back together in the real world, but frick Verso.
He could've saved Gustave.
