The console allows for the streaming of games running on a compatible desktop or laptop PC.[8] This function allows certain Windows games to be played via the SHIELD and is similar to Sony's Remote Play.
Great in theory.. and if it actually works, I could see myself getting one, one day, so that I can play some of my games on it.
But something tells me somewhere behind the scenes.. this wont even up working for my steam library, like at all.

It won't even touch Vita numbers.
Where were you when I needed Powerball numbers Saturday night?

It has a better display than the Vita and better hardware in it so the graphics on it >>>> Vita or at least has the potential for such.
Yeah but not the games/developers to use it like the Vita has to produce those PS3 level graphics.

I didn't say it does. Sony will always have Japan numbers to help drive their sales numbers.
It's also a first gen for Nvidia where as Sony is on its 2nd and has a library of games thanks to being in the handheld market for years.
I just don't rule anything out though.
I think both are doomed long term.

Smart, honestly there is room for 3 consoles and the PC market.. why not legit handhelds?

It's kinda odd, they said the same thing about the 3DS when it was first released, Nintendo did 2 incredible things and the numbers couldn't be better.. I really think at the end of the day, the handheld market will survive - they just have to go about it in a different way in 2013 than they did in 1999..
Just like anything

It's a first gen. Give it some time. Plus being able to play some Windows games will push it's use of the hardware.
Nvidia doesn't own in house studios like Sony does to produce games for their failing hardware but I doubt Nvidia would release this piece of hardware at this price just to play games people can play on their phones. I imagine they have some stuff in the pipeline.

I think Nintendo may be the only one left standing in the handheld market eventually and even then it won't be on the levels it's currently at.
Sony will end up giving up at some point out of necessity and Nvidia isn't a gaming company no matter how bad they want to be.

You try too hard sometimes man.
Vita is going to have a big year with the price cut coming, Forbes has a nice article on it.

Vita>shield
Right now (according to videos from PAX east) the shield has an awful game selection. It can stream games from your PC, but you have to have a damn good graphics card to do it and you'll have to be in your PC's Wi-Fi.
It'll be extremely limited as a handheld

Microsoft wasn't either, but I'll be damned if they didn't pull off some magic with the 360. I expected the Xbox to end up kind of like the Zune did.

I still have a Zune.

I agree comparing Microsoft to Nvidia was a pretty horrible analogy on my part, but I'd say Nvidia has a bigger gaming background (gamers arguably being their largest market for high end GPUs) than Microsoft did initially and still has a pretty solid pool of resources.
I'm not expecting this thing to take off either. All I'm saying is that I've said that before in the past and been proven wrong.

It sounds like a portable emulator playing Beast.
