Maybe that’s just IGN and their typical exaggeration. Could be the kid was young. I typically don’t take IGN reviews all that serious.

Well no but what a stupid statement.

This is the only main line Zelda game that I couldn't even get past the first dungeon in. It was just so slow and boring that I lost interest, though I know the later dungeons have some ingenious ideas in them.
Also, without a sensor bar, the motion controls on the Switch are far less precise in my experience. When I'm playing Captain Toad with my kids in docked mode, which implements a pointer for puzzles, we're having to constantly "recenter" the controller because it so easily loses track of where the Joycon is. It's a minor issue in that game but it would be a serious problem in Skyward Sword.
I'd be more interested in them porting over Twilight Princess and Windwaker.

Your opinion is wrong.
You should do a comparison to Microsoft and Sony. The Asian market is one of the biggest reasons why Nintendo is relevant. They represent roughly 1/4 of their entire market, where as Japan is less than 1/10th of Sony's market.
As for Skyward Sword, I don't mind it. Everyone is doing remasters, why not Nintendo. Especially considering how poorly it was received. Allows for them to change the narrative on it.

Damn we don't have this issue. But I also soldered a wire in the left joycon back in 2017.
Is it both joycons or just the L or R?
Sorry for derail.

The problems with Skyward Sword aren't the type of thing you can fix with a remaster. It wasn't bad due to performance issues or bugs or bad graphics or the type of thing you normally see changed.
The only possible thing they could easily improve on in a remaster is making the motion controls optional allowing people who hate them to just not use them at all.
If anything the narrative might get worse. Imagine if the only Zelda game you ever played was BotW (probably true for many younger gamers) and then you picked up Skyward Sword, yikes.

That would be a shocking experience.

That's exactly what should be changed. By removing the motion controls mandate, it'll allow you to play it like a more normal Zelda game.
I don't think that'd be a bad thing.

quote:I actually don't know if it affects both, since I think we always point with the right one. Just to be clear, it's not losing signal. It just loses track of what is the center of the screen, so it's less accurate. The behavior seems accounted for by the game also, since it tells you how to recenter the controller if this happens. I've also seen other people mention this on other message boards. It's not a big deal but it just seems less accurate than the IR bar assisted pointing of the Wii (and Wii U), which was pretty critical to [what I played of] the combat in Skyward Sword.
Is it both joycons or just the L or R?
I should also note that this is my second pair of joycons. Nintendo replaced the first pair that came with the system because they were bizarrely losing connection to the Switch in handheld mode. That hasn't happened with this new pair.
Regardless, I think it would take a complete redesign of many of Skyward Sword's puzzles, combat, and boss battles to totally remove the reliance on motion controls. I just don't see them doing this unless it was intended to be a re-imagining of that game, with the same story and setting, but re-worked gameplay.

If we could get a remastered Ocarina, The Minish Cap, and Majora's Mask I would give Nintendo whatever amount of money they wanted.
Actually I would really love to see a fully remastered version of A Link to the Past. Completely upgraded to modern graphics and gameplay on the Switch.
Did you ever play the remastered OOT on 3DS?

That would be Twilight Princess. I doesn't get good until the second dungeon (one of the best of the series), and then gets REALLY good once you beat the third dungeon and start the second half of the game.
Skyward Sword is a great game and should look stunning on the Switch. Sounds like it's definitely coming, so hopefully we get it at a reduced price.

Well over before it started it looks like

Wouldn't call this a death sentence by any means. Skyward Sword is next in line for the port treatment, so even if it isn't on the near horizon, I believe it will be on the Switch at some point.

quote:...I guess for you? While Twilight Princess also had a slow start, it wasn't anywhere near the tedium of Skyward Sword. Twilight Princess also had some exploration, an interesting story, and a sidekick that didn't constantly interrupt you to tell you exactly what to do next. I've read enough about Skyward Sword to know that last part never gets better, which essentially sucks most of the fun out of those inventive dungeons.
That would be Twilight Princess.
And the motion controls for Skyward Sword only seemed to work about 80% of the time for me. Some have said that's pretty good for the tech being used, and that may be true, but if I had a Dualshock with a button that only worked 80% of the time I pressed it, I'd buy a new controller.
Having said all of that, if they streamlined the first 2 - 3 hours of the game, greatly improved (or removed) the motion controls, and gave the player an option to mute Fi, I'd probably give Skyward Sword another shot.
