SJWs complain about a female character pose in Overwatch, Blizzard removes it.

The pose in question -
The complaint -

Blizzard's response -

Not only did Kaplan acquiesce and agree to remove the pose, he actually apologized.
The Overwatch community is justifiably livid, and is petitioning Blizzard to keep it in the game.
It's amazing, and quite pathetic, at just how much power and influence SJWs and feminists are gaining with respect to the pruning and censorship of content in games.
This occurs just a few months after SJWs effectively prevented the release of DOA Xtreme 3 in the West.
The complaint -

Then out of seemingly no where we have this pose: LINK
WHAT? What about this pose has anything to do with the character you're building in tracer? It's not fun, its not silly, it has nothing to do with being a fast elite killer. It just reduces tracer to another bland female sex symbol.
We aren't looking at a widowmaker pose here, this isn't a character who is in part defined by flaunting her sexuality. This pose says to the player base, oh we've got all these cool diverse characters, but at any moment we are willing to reduce them to sex symbols to help boost our investment game.
Getting art into a triple A game isn't a small task, it has to go through an implementer, a team lead, an art director, and a creative director. This is a team effort. And I believe the team is responsible for upholding the great example overwatch can set to the rest of the industry for creating strong female characters.

Blizzard's response -
quote:
We'll replace the pose. We want *everyone* to feel strong and heroic in our community. The last thing we want to do is make someone feel uncomfortable, under-appreciated or misrepresented. Apologies and we'll continue to try to do better.

As much as I hate Internet witch hunts, I hate the use of SJW even more.

SJW has become the new hipster. An endlessly derided term with no real meaning any longer.

These SJWs should be dropped out of planes without parachutes.

Big time issue in the gaming industry currently.
To be honest though, it's also a topic I try and stay away from. There is no winning for people who say stuff like this should be in the game and not removed, because then you're just some kind of pervert according to those bitching about it.
By the way, I don't care either way, I just don't see why people get so damn worked up and let stuff like this ruin their day.

By that logic, the rant is all sjw's

I don't get on the rant. What do they want to ban?

If women were the overwhelming majority in the gaming industry and wanted to put big swinging dicks in fantasy games I wouldn't bitch incessantly about it, I'd just not play the game in question.

Lol exactly. I mean if anything else I'd just not buy the game because of all the big swinging dicks. But I definitely wouldn't bitch about it.

I wish these people would understand the concept that if you don't like the way a business does something then take your business elsewhere. I also find it hilarious that SJWs are so anti-fascist, yet they will demand silence and persecute those who aren't on board with their motives.

Because they are, quite literally, influencing the content of games based on their own personal beliefs, emotions, and their own concept of what is acceptable and what is offensive. If you want an industry which you presumably enjoy to capitulate to such whimsical and ridiculous requests, fine.
These are the same individuals complaining about Wonder Woman's representation in Batman v Superman, the same individuals that spread the OscarsSoWhite agenda, and the same individuals that want to limit and filter your speech such that it can be deemed "appropriate" according to their own sensitivities.
Another example - is it time to stop making FPS games with Arab antagonists, so as to not offend the Islamic populace? Because that narrative is already forming.

Exactly. This is the same mindset that has impacted Missouri and is causing significant issues at colleges all over the country.
This is a somewhat political issue, but even progressive democrats are starting to realize this is a problem.
The mindset of these individuals are impacting everything now.
The best course of action is to not capitulate to their demands.
What would have been the outcome if they would've said no?

Ahh. So Christians and their attacks on homosexuality and transgenderism are SJWs? Got it.

Social Terrorist is probably a better term. They're radicalized misrepresentations of legitimate causes.

Are all concerns illegitimate? No, but many are.
