According to the rumor initially posted to ResetEra by Slayven, Game Pass will now be split into two tiers, either with ads or without, have a separate subscription for multiplayer which can be optionally added on, and also most notably, see the complete removal of day 1 releases from the service starting sometime between February and April of next year.

While the post does state that the price of Game Pass will be reduced by $3 a month to compensate for the loss of the day 1 access, now at $12.99 a month with ads and $19.99 without, the response to the rumor has already been overwhelmingly negative so far.

Several other notable changes were also included as well such as a discounted family plan and separate online subscription options, with all the price options being the following:

-Game Pass with ads — $12.99 monthly
-Game Pass without ads — $19.99 monthly
-Online Multiplayer Plan — $10.99 monthly
-Game Pass only and Multiplayer — $14.99 monthly
-Family Plan — $5.99 extra a month
-Cloud streaming bundle (25 hours) — $5.99 extra a month

I like the addition of a family plan.

The rest looks like dookie, but that is just the reality of the gaming crash.

I expect Sony to follow suit

What the hell are the ads? Do they mean the ads on the main screen while I'm looking for my game to play? That's annoying but I don't think I give a shite about that to pay $20 instead of $13.

I think they've been testing having ads play before you can play a game. I guess it's possible you could get more ads at certain intervals thereafter (i.e., a new series of ads after you have played for 'X' hours).

Here's the article about the ad-supported cloud streaming test:

The removal of which is apparently only worth a $3 price reduction

They've been advertising that Fable will be available Day 1 on Game Pass, so I doubt they'd walk that back now. If the rumors are true, I imagine it'd only apply to new releases that haven't already been announced as available Day 1 on Game Pass.

This is a great way to get gamers to embrace AI generated games. We are probably less than 5 years from AI having the ability to create meaningful games. A singular person can launch Claude and make themselves a PC game. Here is AI's take on AAA titles -
