I fell out of the series after 4 and 5. Wish I had kept up with it

I was passionate about it during 1, 2, 3 and 4.

You can jump back in from 1-4 into 7-8 without missing much of a beat.

7 had a pretty self contained story. Some loose references to earlier games but not much. 8 might have more tie in since we are seeing the umbrella logo being referenced and we have Chris being a potential villain.

Ok good, I may watch some play-through stories on YouTube to re-learn some of the core stories.

I remember 2 being on of my favorite games in the late 90s. Loved how it was 2 stories, it worked imo.

Played it right after I had completed metal gear solid, which I was blown away by. So I was prepared to be disappointed, but in turn was captivated and invested.

May want to give the remakes a look too.

The resi 2 remake is pretty solid. They didn’t stick the a/b plotline concept as well this time but mechanically and graphically, it’s a good time. Would have gone from a good game to an all timer if they nailed the old school zapping and A\B plot lines, but it is what it is.

3 remake was a bit of a rush job but it was good for what it was. I’d wait for a sale for 3.

I wish the mechanics and tech of 4 had been available or saved for 3. Out of the first 4 I feel 3 was my least favorite. I bought and downloaded thr 1st remake, but just haven't got to it yet. Its on my xbox one, since I bought the series x I've just been putting all my time back into replaying borderlands 2 and rdr 2

When's the last time you played 4? I recently tried to play through all the games starting with RE0 Remaster and the gameplay in RE2 Remake and RE3 Remake was so tight, that I stopped playing RE4 after about 10min. Just couldn't get into it even though I know it's probably the best of the series. Decided I'd just wait until 2023 when the RE4 Remake comes out

i strongly suggest you play OG 4, it's an amazing game. the remake is going to be more of a reimagining from what all the leaks have said. you get used to the controls quick

I’ve played the remake of 2 and RE7. Loved them both. Watched someone play the remake of 3 and it did seem a little rushed but it was still pretty good. I’ve thought about going back and playing some of the originals but the graphics are just so bad compared to what I’m used to with the remakes and 7/8 that I’m worried I won’t enjoy them as much and I’ll leave disappointed

It’s hard to go back to RE4 controls.

That shite is janky AF in 2021.

Tried to dust it off a little while ago because I haven’t done a playthrough since it’s launch window. Didn’t make it far.

I'm in the same camp as CornDogCologne and Bamafan18. I'm thinking of just watching a full playthrough so I can enjoy the story and not wind up hating it because of the controls.

But maybe my main issue was going right from RE2 Remake and RE3 Remake, directly into RE4. I'm sure that made the controls feel even worse.

REmake 1, original 2, and original 3 are all incredible and still fun despite the age. REmake 1 in particular is the best horror game of all time. I didn't play it or original 1 as a kid so I have no nostalgia goggles. Played it for the first time last year and 100%'d it. Amazing. OG 2 has the most nostalgia for me

I played RE4 on PS2 and it was one of my favorite games. I got the PS4 version last year and played it after running through Remake 2 and Remake 3. 100%'d it and still enjoyed it. Did take an hour or so to get used to the controls though. To this day, it has the best guns and upgrade system in the series, the best implementation of Mercenaries mode, and some of my favorite environments. Perfect amount of camp and great blend of action/horror too. Highly suggest it, it's not a super long game

yeah it's very jarring, but you eventually get the hang of it. really helps with the panic inducing moments later in the game with the one-shot enemies. Not being able to move and shoot at the same time in tight spaces really ups the tension

It’s funny. I used to be an ardent defender of tank controls. I guess age and the quality of the re-makes has altered my opinion.

Remake 1 is a great game but I’ve completely soured on fixed camera angles over the years. I must have played that game a dozen times back on its original GameCube release. The spencer mansion will always be my favorite setting, no matter what.

The game comes out in 24 hours now. I ordered the physical copy bc #1 I love physical copies and #2 my wifi is too slow to download big digital games. But now I’ve got to avoid spoilers from 11 pm CT tomorrow all the way until my game arrives probably Friday afternoon smh. Hopefully I survive

Xbox digital folks: New Zealand trick wasn’t working but Reddit suggested Singapore instead. That worked. Enjoy!
