Will it be worth getting when it comes out on Friday.

Yep def getting it Friday.
The RE1 and RE2 remakes are two of the best remakes in video game history and I expect no less from RE3. Those PS1 era games were always ripe for remakes. Great games for the time, but still being held back majorly by the technology of the era.

Good reviews on the remake. I never played, so will be picking up.

Lots of people complaining about length and Nemesis design. It's apparently about 6 hours long and very streamlined. Not worried, that's just slightly shorter than most RE games. Nemesis only has a few stalker sections and appears more in setpiece sequences/boss battles. 5 difficulty modes, two of which have remixed item and enemy placements, as well as additional enemies
Forewarning to Xbox One X players - it runs like shite. Something wasn't optimized properly and it gets outperformed by the base PS4 / blown away by PS4 Pro (which is a smooth 60)

Ya I knew some people would gripe about the length. The old-school RE games are just not that long, horror games by their nature really can't be.
RE1 and RE2 both extend the length by having multiple character scenarios, 3 never had that.
That's also probably why they included the multiplayer mode as well.

yeah im not sweating it. I'll platinum it and run through all the difficulties. You earn points as you play to buy items/weapons, should be fun

Played the demo on PC and it was good.. but just not $43 good, and that was the preorder price I had on Greenmangaming. Refunded it and will just wait for this to be $20 or less. Nemesis is too fricking annoying... I don't want to pay that price to be cucked and feel frustrated right now. Got plenty of other games to play anyway. Graphics were amazing though. Not really a fan of the dodge step move.. seems like you will have to get pretty good at that to avoid Nemesis damage. Hate how he just teleports to your location seemingly at times... too scripted IMO, at least in the demo. But it is when he first appears I guess...

the demo area is allegedly the only encounter that functions that way. Lots of reviewers complained that Nemesis didn't function like Mr. X where he stalks you around. Instead, he's used for more setpiece/on-rails moments and boss fights.

I'll get it, I just don't know when.
I hope they incorporate those split second decision scenes when dealing with Nemesis. I always thought that was a cool part of the original.

Got mine a day early just now, I'll be playing it today and this weekend.

6 hours is still really fricking short. Not everyone loves to play multiple times with every difficulty.
Hard pass for me if it really is that short.

6 hours is probably an underestimate for the average person's first playthrough. I'm 5 hours in and def. not near the end. My first playthrough of RE2 remake took 10'ish hours, I'm pretty thorough and like to try to find all the items and files and stuff. I'm guessing that's probably a more accurate estimate for most people. However if you rush and just sorta plow ahead to the next objective as quickly as possible, then 6'ish hours is def. possible. Resident Evil games have never been long. RE4 is the longest I can remember, it probably takes 12-15'ish for a casual playthrough.
If your gaming budget is tight and you want a longer game I can understand that. Especially with games like FF7 remake, Nioh 2, Animal Crossing, etc. just having come out, all of those are very long games you can play for weeks if not months.
Thus far the game itself is good, about what you'd expect after R2, but Nemesis himself is pretty disappointing. He's sorta too over the top to be really scary. There's no sense of dread. Whenever he's around it's full Michael Bay. They haven't done anything really interesting with him yet, thus far anyway.

Was really surprised they didn't incorporate this into the remake. That was one of the unique, defining characteristics of the original so including a few of those choices in some way should have been a no brainer, would have made RE3 remake stand out a little more from RE2 and be more true to the original spirit.

I set my Xbox to New Zealand to play a day early. And I beat the game before the day was out. I finished a game before I was even officially allowed to play it
It was good for what it was, but this game probably needed more time in the oven. Flesh out nemesis, include the split decision mechanic, maybe allow more exploration of the city... stuff like that.
It would have been cool if we could have seen some rogue umbrella bows clashing with members of the umbrella forces or surviving rpd units. Really flesh out the city in chaos setting.
I did enjoy the game for its own merits though.

Yeah releasing it only a year after RE2 was probably too soon. Not sure if they were developing it in parallel or completely after.
Having split decisions with branching paths would have also greatly increased replayability as well.

Yeah they should have charged like $30 for remakes.
Lol at setting your system to New Zealand time

Finished it in about 7.5 hours on normal difficulty.
If definitely feels like it's an act short. The Clock Tower in the middle of the game is where it could used another segment. In the original it's a full blown act and in the remake it really only appears in passing.
When you take a look at the post-game shop and the challenges and two new difficulties and stuff, it's clear it was built to encourage multiple playthroughts since the campaign itself is brief by today's standards.

This, more so than the length, is where the game falls short IMO.
Nemesis has no personality and you never really fear him. Almost all your interactions with him are tightly scripted and controlled, with little cutscenes before, during, and after.
With how absolutely awesome they did Mr. X in RE2, my hopes were high they'd do some cool stuff with him, but he's about as stock as you can get.
