Just beat 3 and bought 2 today so I’m going backwards 
It asks who I would like to play with “Claire” Or “Leon”
Which is a better story?
How was does RE2 remake compare to RE3?

I always liked Leon better because he has better weapons. You need to play both to get the full story anyway so it doesn't matter which order.

The RE2 remake is vastly superior, just way more faithful to the original and way more variety in terms of the scenarios and set pieces and atmosphere.

Claire's weapons are actually objectively better than Leon's in the remake.

I think Claire is better equipped for the big boss fights but Leon's shotgun is hard to beat for zombies.

I just finished Leon's story last night. It was good but do I need to play Claire's?
I wanted to move on and finally play Bioshock 3 and/or Shadow of the colossus. Want to squeeze one of those in before last of us 2 comes out next Friday.

run through Claire 2nd scenario, it's worth it. different shite you have to do, some different bosses, whole different area that Leon doesn't go to

Does Claire get the custom magnum? I used to be able to line up 4 or 5 zombies and pop all their heads off with one shot. That was awesome. I always preferred the shotgun to Claire's little grenade shooter thing.

Claire gets a magnum upgrade for the 5-shot revolver she starts the game with, and she can critical headshot zombies with it.
Overall, Claire has several advantages over Leon:
- JMB pistol gets full bonus damage immediately due to the laser, so you don't have to wait for the crosshairs to shrink
- SMG is superior to the Matilda, shotgun, or magnum for shooting G-boss eyeballs
- Flame rounds 1-shot a grounded licker. Leon has no unique weapon to 1-shot or even effectively stun a licker. Knives are the best way to kill lickers but 1st time players are unlikely to know how to effectively knife lickers.
- Acid rounds can stunlock G3 making the entire fight obsolete for Claire.
Leon's advantages are that the Matilda's starting capacity and reload speed make the first segment of the game a little easier for him. I guess the flamethrower is a little more straightforward for killing g-spawns in the sewer compared to the spark shot, though the spark shot is arguably the superior weapon. And Leon's "fight" with the super tyrant is easier than Claire's fight against G4.
