Lots of speculation that other games presently and in the future are going to incorporate a battle royale mode, like with GTAV recently. A podcast I listen to speculated on what games it would work the best: battlefield is probably an easy choice. An interesting candidate would be the next Division game. As much as a nightmare the Dark Zone was, it's set up perfectly for that.

Not to mention the mods that will spin off from this. The WWII mod and zombie mods will crush it IMHO

It would be, if DayZ were ever finished. If DayZ was even close to as polished as PUBG is, I would never leave. Six years of early access later, who knows if it even takes off if they ever finish it. Especially when PUBG is promising console launch in the next three months.

So another thing I heard was that H1Z1 is now going to be called "Just Survive" and H1Z1 will now be "H1Z1: King of the Hill", another PUBG style game.
One of the things discussed about the success of future iterations is player count: big part of the appeal of PUBG is how many people you are up against and that if a game couldn't support that amount, say they tried something with just 40 players, would it work as well?

I think smaller player counts could work, I mean DayZ has a map that is over 10 times the size and only fits 60 players, but thats part of the reason many people didnt play it. I know that once PUBG releases the map that is half the size of the current one (and its already been announced) more players will play it than either of the two larger maps. Its like the Nuketown effect.

Is this the one with the multiple story buildings? I thought I heard the map is going to be the same size, but obviously you'd keep up with it more than me.

There are two new maps on the way, one is the same dimension as the current map, which they said was 8x8, and another that is half the size, 4x4.

Xbox release by the end of the year, supposed to be in beta on PC by the end of the year, but so far all we have heard from them is that they underestimated the popularity of the game and how difficult it will be to keep up the pace they were on with updates, so they will no longer be pushed through every week/month. Don't be surprised when none of those deadlines are reached.
And its still a more polished game than DayZ. I have a lot of hope for .63 Beta in DayZ, but expecting it to play this well is probably wishful thinking

I'm just going to try and keep up my squad ranks. In solos now I just jump military base and try to work on getting practice kills and then bailing, rinse and repeat.
I may go try hard in duos once I get my buddy up to speed with the game

I stopped giving a damn trying to be competitive in CS:GO. It's nice to know where I stand, but I know ill never be the best. I'll have more fun playing with friends than trying to be a top player.
