Xbox IO throughput is 2.4GB/s to the PS5's 5.5GB/s, and compressed 4.8GB/s to PS5's ~9GB/s. Roughly double the speed.
What happens if you have more games than storage and have to go external with PS5? Does that mess with the enhanced speed there? The PS5 is 825GB right?
Do you keep you favorite games internal?

No, Sony is always pro extra storage built in, the PS5 has a 2nd NVMe slot for another NVMe SSD built in.
It's like a PC in that regard, motherboards have 2 NVMe slots these days some even have 3. I personally have 2 in my rig.

Mark said any games installed on an external HD would run slower than games installed on the Internal SSD. He suggested keeping your PS5 games on Internal SSD storage, and leaving maybe your older ps4 games on the external.

Yeah use the extra internal NVMe slot if you want to keep at/near the same speed.
Hopefully PCIE 4.0 NVMe drives start to hit the market more, AMD X570 boards are the only ones that support PCIE 4.0 so there is only still like 3-4 drives and only 1-2 that are at 5GB/s to match or come close to what is in the PS5.

It is one of those things
Xbox 4 has it beat on CPU and GPU, but PS5 has it smoked on IO.
Overall X4 is a more complete system when it comes to power. Games on PS5 and X4 are going to look the same though.
