So, I thought that the bluetooth in my PS4 launch system was failing because while holding the controller in my hands while my hands were down near my lap/stomach area, the connection would either disconnect, become very laggy, or there would be no button response whatsoever. If I would lift the controller higher (such as chest height), the button response would come back. Thinking that the problem was with my launch system, I purchased a PS4 Pro, and immediately ran into the exact same issue. I even tried using the launch system in my bedroom downstairs (thinking that maybe there was some sort of electrical interference in my theater room), but once again, when the controller is placed down near my lap/stomach area (which is where I consider the normal area a gamer would hold his/her controller while playing) I ran into the same problems. Also, if I set the DS4 controller on my lap for 5-10 seconds straight, it will become disconnected. Both systems (when in use) are no more than 6-8 feet away from the controllers, and are in direct line of sight. Has anyone else here experienced this issue?

are you sure it's not that particular controller?

I play from pretty far away. I have never had any issue. I am actually surprised how far I can go with my controller.

I also considered that to be a problem as well, but I've tried 4 separate controllers. Two of them were brand new.

That sounds really strange. The only issue I've seen with the DS4 is that that rubber on the sticks would rub off on the launch controllers.

To those of you experiencing this issue, would y'all happen to be playing your games off of an external HDD by chance? I don't think I started experiencing this problem until after I began playing all of my games from an external 4TB HDD.
