The "unwritten rules" of baseball. It's what makes people hate the sport so much.

Baseball is a gentlemen's game :snort: and that kind of tomfoolery just shows up the pitcher. Dey get dissed.

I'd love to find a replay of it on youtube, but in the '04 season, Jim Edmonds cranked one against Carlos Zambrano in Wrigley, and you almost couldn't see it, but Jimmy game Zambrano a quick look before putting his head down and running to 1st. By the time he got to 3rd, Zambrano was spitting fire at him and the cards dugout. Someone got plunked later in the game and benches cleared.

Found it...4:10 mark.

You can't really see what Edmonds did in that video, but I remember WGN did a slo-mo closeup of him after the hit, and the glance was so subtle. Zambrano was a career hot head so it never took much anyways.

Call me crazy, but I love all that stuff

I surely thought there was gonna be a hockey type brawl in Toronto yesterday.

Maybe the Rangers are too nice, hence the underachieving. Plus, it would have fired that crowd up even more.

The Rangers didn't fight because they were probably afraid of the crowd

It had to near rioting. Didn't need another tipping point

same here. i'd always get told to "act like you've been there before" and shite when i played. frick that...i enjoyed playing and great plays would get me pumped and excited

you don't like me celebrating....make a better pitch or hit the ball where i can't get to it.

You don't see hockey getting pissed when the entire fricking team comes out to tackle someone who scored a goal...or when someone hits a 3 or dunks in someone's face in basketball. Suck it up baseball

Now that is downright silly.

I guess I can see the bat flip thing, but glancing at the pitcher after you hit a homer off of him...damn. Although like you suggested, Zambrano was probably looking for a reason.

Looking at that video, Edmonds got plunked, then hit a HR, then got hit again.

Cubs/Cards so there is already bad blood, but that series in particular, if I remember correctly, was super heated.

There was a great article written by John Baker, one of the Cubs backup catchers from a few years back...I'll see if I can find it. It's about when he went to the fall leagues in Central America with Anthony Rizzo and they learned all about the bat flip.

Here it is.

I encourage you guys to read it, it's pretty well-written and it's insightful. It gave me a new perspective on the whole thing...

What I meant to say is I enjoy the old school rules of baseball

The pimping and bat flips don't bother me, but neither does the retaliation and bench clearing. I think it all adds some spice to the game that sometimes could use it.

my sentiments are the same.

I still believe in some of the unwritten rules i.e. don't run across the mound, etc. but i'm not gonna thumb my nose at someone for being excited either. I'm not a baseball purest by any means

Hitting a batter is most of the time expected, and generally accepted, even though players react in rage. It's when a batter gets it at his head that it gets really interesting.

I've watched it a few times, and it's cool to be excited, but that was a tad much. Regular season, someone from the rangers would have him pinned to the ground.

I don't think he does it in the regular season

It was an "in the moment" type thing

on a Tuesday in June, okay

in that moment the crowd was insane, and as soon as he connected they lifted the fricking roof off the place... at that point emotions take over, and I cant fault a guy for that

I used to hate the bat flip, but that was because I saw them happen against the Cubs all too often. It's fun now. The Cubs usually don't bat flip, but Schwarber does pimp the frick out of his HR's...

I can't blame Bautista's bat flip on anything bad...that was just a great moment for him and the Jays.

Hitting a baseball is hard. Hitting a baseball out of the park in that situation is really hard. It's okay to celebrate it.

I need some autocad help. I need to do a drawing for a project that is supposed to fit on 8.5x11 sheet of paper.

a.) where do I set the page dimensions and will I have to redo the drawings I've already made
b.) How do I scale everything? I know at the bottom toolbar there's a box for scaling. Do I just select all the drawings then change the setting?

I haven't done that in years, but you basically need to create a paper space view and create a window to the model view

Or you could just draw a title block around what you've already drawn and print it directly from model space (lazy but common way).

There should be a scale command where you can select what you want to scale and apply a scale factor to it.
