I have a feeling some pre-order links will go live before 10am CST.

Yeah I’m thinking that too. From 9:30 on I’ll be hammering that refresh button lol

Well this is interesting. I wish Microsoft would penalize retailers for allowing bots to scoop up all the consoles!

Yeah, have a tech company task retailers with developing cybersecurity measures or be penalized. Makes sense.

There needs to be a quantity restriction on them

Maybe it’s just me, but getting the first batch of consoles seems like a poor idea given the past of Microsoft’s issues that had to be fixed.

Have there been other issues aside from the RRoD on the 360? I'm fairly new to Xbox after getting a One X about a year ago.

I've never had an issue, but this will be my first time buying one at launch.
PS4 had their own version of the RRoD issue with the PS4, but I can't find any evidence of widespread launch day issues for either console. Seems both consoles had some issues, but nothing widespread on day 1.

I'm like you. I'm never an early adopter. However, a lightning strike wiped out all of my networking gear and my xbox one because it was hardwired about a month and a half ago. A 1k mistake for not having a $5 surge protector on my coax line to my modem. If you don't have one, get one. Btw, xbox one won't let you use wifi if it thinks a network cable is plugged in. So, that put me in the shitty situation of not being able to buy a new console until the new one drops. Otherwise, I would have waited 6 months to let any kinks get worked out before upgrading. I don't feel good about it, but at the same time I'm stoked to potentially not lag out of PUBG anymore.

So is the Series S going to be outdated quickly or do you all think everything will run great on it for the foreseeable years?
Posted on 9/22/20 at 8:43 am to Mystictiger
The biggest concern I can see is the 512gb hard drive the series S comes with. Which will actually be less than 512 because the system software will eat into that space. The proprietary expansion card, for now at least, only comes in 1tb and those are leaked to be price at ~$220. You could however manually move games off the internal drive to an external drive when you aren't actively playing them and then move them back to the internal drive when you want to play them. But to answer your question, as long as you aren't planning to game on a 4k TV then the series S shouldn't be outdated any faster than the series X.

This is my plan. Screw a memory card. They're going to have to give me a real good reason why I should buy that.

I was going to trade in my OG Xbox one but it doesn’t look like that’ll be feasible since GameStop doesn’t have many in stock.

Amazon's link just went down.

How do the Series X and PS5 (disk drive versions) stack up? Are they very comparable or is there a glaring difference?

Here's a good comparison: LINK
