My introduction to FF was Mystic Quest when I was like 6...

Holy shite I remember that game. I remember FFII being my first experience and that was just watching my dad play. Becoming a Paladin on the top of some mountain.

FF II is actually Final Fantasy IV. (They used the incorrect number on original NA release as the actual II and III were not released to NA yet)
That is the same one I was talking about as my first mainline.

I have not. I did try that remake on a long road trip one time for iOS but I can't get into playing games on my phone. So I don't think I even made it to Rydia.

Only versions I have completed completely are the original SNES and the Final Fantasy Chronicles version on PS1. I think I may have played a modded rom on my PC before as well a few years back.

"YOU SPOONY BARD!!!"
I can't remember if they left that in on PS1 but it was MUCH harder than the one that came out here on SNES as 2.

The original Final Fantasy II is about individuals from the country of Fynn combating an evil Empire (the Emperor is the primary antagonist).

The original Final Fantasy III is about a group of orphans.

That was Tellah chastizing Edward, who was his late daughter's boyfriend, right?

This was the first way I really experienced it. I started it on PS1 but never made it far. Got the DS remake and played through all of it. While some didn't like the new character models, I thought they were fine. Can't go from with the DS remake or the PSP remake (which has sprites, looks a lot closer to the original's spirit).

The iOS versions are all travesties.

I thought the iOS version was just the DS version ported?

Yea, I did not know that at the time but that is why as a young kid I could play it easy enough. Japan still thought western gamers were a joke back then.

Whenever I do a replay of snes final fantasy titles, I always get a fan translated Japanese rom. The dialogue isn’t as cheesy and the Japanese versions are harder and contain more items/attack options.

And square was the company that fostered a love of rpg games in me at a very young age with Final Fantasy IV on the snes. It sucks that they are a shell of their former selves.

The character models are the same, but they changed up the text font, menus, and a couple other UI options. That stuff bothers me far more than it has any right to.

Exactly why I play FF IX on my ps3 over my ps4.

And they're lazy and ported the mobile versions to Steam. At least Chrono Trigger got fixed (sorta).

FF IX Pacing

Another video that came out today about how good IX was with barely any development time. How times have changed.

Sakaguchi and Hiroyuki Ito

Yeah, they were swamped during 9's development since they were also working on 10, the movie, and even a little bit of 11. Plus their Play Online service.
9 only came out a year after 8 (which came out 2 years after 7, which came out 3 years after 6).
