Those are intriguing, I've been a little disappointed with how hot my 770's get. They aren't bad but it was just worse than my 7870's

I'm interested to see what AMD produces next. I hope it's not another hot and loud clunker that's going to get slammed before AIBs can even start selling them with better coolers. The 290X's rep got tarnished pretty badly from that.
I'm glad I only paid $200 each for my 290s, because I have a feeling I'm going to have to unload them for around that price, even with the blocks.

I haven't seen a lot of complete reviews but there were some 4k benchmarks that had it scaling better than anything else. I think it was only a couple of frames ahead of the 780ti though. I haven't seen anything about heat? are they cooler?
This is why im just purchasing 1 ATM. Those benches are base clocks and boost clocks, have a feeling my Tis will still throw punches against the 980. Only reason for a person to replace their 780 Ti is if they are on air, like LSUToo stated, 28nm on a less dense core will yield cooler temps and higher OC ceiling on air.
My 780 Tis overclock great in game, 1281Mhz in 2033 Redux and 1306Mhz in other titles. Never clocked that high in games before until receiving this RoG Swift, now I have a goal to aim for... 1440 @ 120/144.

Are you getting performance boost with those clocks? I know a lot of games don't improve beyond a certain clock for whatever reason.
I just realized that I haven't played a new PC game in a while. I still haven't gotten to push my 770. I don't count Watch Dogs since it was a shite port.

So, an old customer of mine just called. In mid-2012 I built him a 3770K/16GB video editing machine. He has since upgraded the RAM to 32GB. Now he called me and asked if it's possible to get a 64GB kit.
I'm not a pro video editor, whereas he does this near full time, but I just don't see any scenario where 64GB for video editing is going to make a difference.
But anyway, after a lengthy chat, he's having me upgrade him to a 5820K/32GB DDR4 setup with some sort of AIO liquid cooler. He wants me to OC the CPU, so that will be interesting. I at least managed to convince him not to spend $1000 on RAM...

Jesus, hell yeah man.
I don't start a game usually without OC the core to 1150. Only games I don't OC on are Indie Titles.
EDT: If you want a 7870 back so bad, I'll trade 2 for that 770 or do 7870/cash. The GK104-400-A2 was an awesome chip, they wrecked shtt in my old 690, the GK104-425-A1 should run through titles.
You ever flashed a custom VBIOS to unlock the card? I have all the files saved on my server, would love to help you do so one day.

Thanks but I don't dislike it, just didn't know it would be hotter. Hopefully shadows of mordor puts it to good use.

Yeah that is odd, idk the TDP off hand GK104-425 but I'll image it runs cool.
I bet what is making the card so hot are those 7Ghz VRAM modules.

By hot I'm talking upper 70's for a game that pushes it for a while, nothing drastic, just hotter than my old 7870. Of course they are different makers with different coolers too. I also have that refurbished 770 so that may be why someone sent it back.

What kind of cooler is on it, and how's your fan curve? If you didn't set any custom fan curve, I'm pretty sure your cooler is only working hard enough to keep it under 80.
Posted on 9/20/14 at 9:32 pm to ILikeLSUToo
Evga cooler, I did set a curve.

Someone recommend me a new PSU. I "rebuilt" my PC on PCPartPicker and I'm estimated at over 750 watts. That's the max for my PSU currently. I don't want my house to burn down. If I hit my foot on the PSU cord, my left speaker fades in and out....
That new video card put me over the top. I didn't think about that.

I don't think there are any good sales right now for them but they do go on sale often. Do you need one right away?
Posted on 9/21/14 at 9:11 am to Mr Gardoki
I don't really want to game until I get a new one. I can use my PC just fine right now, but I think gaming would destroy this house. The cable isn't hot which is a great sign.

Obviously people know better on here than me but I always stick with brands I'm comfortable with like Seasonic, corsair, and xfx. There may be more but those are the ones I've heard a lot of good about. I would also get at least a 850 to give yourself some room, maybe even more. This is where I differ to others.
