so the biggest risk to the mining bubble in the next month is what happens to bitcoin prices.
I think within a week people will be over the Mt Gox issue. At least enough for Bitcoin to keep chugging along.

and 850 would be cutting it close.
Yea, that's what I am looking into now. My current PSU is a Thermaltake Black Widow 850. I don't know if it would suffice.
I may just put two cards in my current set up if the PSU will handle it, sell my 270x and one 290x, and put the 3rd 290x in the other rig so I don't have to dump a lot of money into PSUs.

I think a 750w would handle it fine, assuming we are talking about a GOOD 750w with the appropriate 12v rail amperage. Those cards have a 6-pin/8-pin power setup, right? So 300W each max, and remember that your CPU and other components will essentially be idle.
EDIT: I'm about to connect my kill-a-watt to see how much power I'm using with two 7970s, one 280x (all three overclocked), on top of all the other stuff in this PC (pump, HDDs, 13 fans, etc).

Yeah, frick, I always think that they're 8/8 and pulling 350.

According to PCpartpicker this is what I am looking at.
Too close for comfort

Yeah, it estimates the wattage when every component is at 99% load, including the CPU. Obviously, I'd get 850w+ if I was buying one, but I thought you already had the 750.

I'm probably going to get one of these. LSU has assured me that it might not burn my house down.
Take a look at this.

GD, not sure I want to put that on $1400 worth of cards

Apparently the OEM maker is a reputable company. It's not like it will short them out or anything. Hell, I burned up a corsair PSU yesterday and all it did was smell bad.

I just realied the mobo I have right now won't crossfire. Not my main one but the spare I have.
What's my cheapest CPU and mobo option to put the other two cards on? I might have to buy a whole new set up to do it and I could always put the 270x on what I have now.
I have $150 in Amazon credit anyway.

for mining? Cheapest PoS AM3+ mobo with 2 16x PCIe and at least 2 1x lanes. Sempron 145s are $30(43 on amazon) on ebay

So I could get a CPU and mobo combo for $100 probably and another $100 for a PSU. I have everything else.
I might do it since I don't need to sell these cards right away.
4 290x and 1 270x could possibly make me about $600 per month?
That and I would get a free sauna in my house

The cards just need to fit in PCIe slots, either in x16 sized slots, or x1 through the use of powered risers. You don't need to and should not crossfire.
If you have a motherboard that can hold all four of those cards using the above criteria, you just need to get a second PSU to power two of them.

My mobo
If you ran it open air in a crate, all four cards would fit.

I see that.
Which riser do I need?
Also, there is one more auction going tomorrow for the same cards I bought today if anyone is interested. I bet it goes for over $1K since it's the last one. I think I got lucky on these because people have been thinking "I will just bid on the next one" There were two auctions today and two yesterday for the same set ups. I got number 1 and 3
ETA: actually there is another auction ending in 50 minutes and one more tomorrow.
