I could probably go up to $600 if that made it easier? 
Also, before I forget again.. My wife decided a few months ago that purchasing a $250 tower from our BX was a "steal of a deal". She brought it home and low and behold no wireless card
.. So I went to the BX and picked up a USB wireless signal transmitter and it is starting to go out. What would be a solid alternative to get wireless into her "steal of a deal" desktop? Could I add in a Wireless card without replacing anything in the back?

You mean on the inside? Yes, you could do that.They're not expensive and you could install it in 3 minutes.
This would be fine for just random interwebbing. Also, if the router isn't too terribly far away.

Search newegg for a PCI wireless card.
They are cheap and reliable.

Same one I put in my little brothers build last Christmas. They have mentioned a single problem, then again they are 4 and 7yrs old.

Yeah man. There seems to be a mass misconception that computers have a ton of intricate random parts. Building it is as easy as building a really easy 6 piece puzzle. Everything is labeled and each plug is specific for it's component.

My guide explains how to choose parts, what's important, and why -- for those who want to know those things. But when it boils down to just a part list, that's all there is to it: Mobo, CPU/Cooling, Graphics, RAM, Storage, PSU, Case.

Will hopefully play around with overclocking my i5 4670k tonight. Does anybody have some quick and dirty numbers they recommend for having a nice, stable overclock on that particular CPU? Not really looking at pushing for the max possible but definitely want a significant (but safe) increase.
I'm using Corsair h100i cpu cooler so heat hopefully won't be an issue.

Heat is always an issue with haswell, and all CPUs will have different stable OCs

Yeah, it will be.
For a quick and dirty overclock, set you vcore to a static 1.25 and see how high you can push your core frequency until it BSODs during AIDA64 or XTU, or heat is too much. Keep ring/uncore voltage and frequency at stock/auto for the moment.
If you get a BSOD but heat is still not a problem, increase VCCIN by .1 or .2 v and see if that helps. If doing that makes the BSOD happen quicker, bring it back down. If you have all four RAM slots occupied OR if you are using RAM that is faster than 1866, tweak system agent voltage and digital and analog input voltage if your mobo supports that. If your temps are still good at a stable OC at 1.25v, you can always try for something higher with a small vcore bump. Heat will likely be a barrier unless you delid (can tell you how to do that at your own risk, if interested).
Once you've found a stable Core overclock, dial in your ring/uncore clock. You probably won't be able to get it to the same speed as your core, but it's not nearly as important. Getting it to about 400 MHz less than your core is ideal.

Was wondering if any of you intelligent gentlemen had the time and would be willing to take a look at this build and tell me where i can avoid making any huge mistakes. This would be a gaming rig for my son that we could build together. I've used the limited mental capacity I have to piece together what you see here. Is this mid case large enough for this build? And can you recommend a 1440p 27" monitor? Much thanks!

Just gaming? For starters you don't need that much memory or that speed since you can go cheaper. If it were me, I would get 8gb at about 1600. You can get that for about $60
