I'm hoping coffee will get me through. I have emergency Red Bulls as well. Still setting it up. Changing up some stuff so I can go back to streaming in fullscreen while still being able to see chat. Just about done.

I'm planning on primarily mining but also setting the rig up to game on occasion, so I'm not skimping on any of the other components. Z87-G45 gaming mobo and i5 4670. Also picked up h100i cpu cooler earlier today because I plan on overclocking the CPU quite a bit. Got a 1350W Enermax Platimax PSU that should hopefully provide enough juice for it all.

And yes, I bought these for 380 bucks each right before they shot up in cost. :) Wish I would have picked up a couple more but hindsight is 20/20.

Also picked up the frame I'm going to mount it all from. I have a rough idea what I am going to do but it will have to wait until tomorrow.

Great build I would have gone x79, but you're mining. I also would have gotten the swiftech h220 for $99 that cooler in a heartbeat

Keeps ears from getting irritated from wearing headphones over long periods of time.

I haven't had any issues with them, right now I'm saving to get dual monitors. I need those more than headphones right now.

Early Gsync review
quote:

I started out playing Assassin’s Creed IV multiplayer with v-sync off. I used GeForce Experience to predetermine the game quality settings, which ended up being maxed out even on my GeForce GTX 760 test hardware. With v-sync off and the display set to 60Hz, there was just tons of tearing everywhere. In AC4 the tearing was arguably even worse as it seemed to take place in the upper 40% of the display, dangerously close to where my eyes were focused most of the time. Playing with v-sync off was clearly not an option for me.

Next was to enable v-sync with the refresh rate left at 60Hz. Lots of AC4 renders at 60 fps, although in some scenes both outdoors and indoors I saw frame rates drop down into the 40 - 51 fps range. Here with v-sync enabled I started noticing stuttering, especially as I moved the camera around and the difficulty of what was being rendered varied. In some scenes the stuttering was pretty noticeable. I played through a bunch of rounds with v-sync enabled before enabling G-Sync.

I enabled G-Sync, once again leaving the refresh rate at 60Hz and dove back into the game. I was shocked; virtually all stuttering vanished. I had to keep FRAPS running to remind me of areas where I should be seeing stuttering. The combination of fast enough hardware to keep the frame rate in the G-Sync sweet spot of 40 - 60 fps and the G-Sync display itself produced a level of smoothness that I hadn’t seen before. I actually realized that I was playing Assassin’s Creed IV with an Xbox 360 controller literally two feet away from my PS4 and having a substantially better experience.

Sounds like they still have some issues to iron out but i love where it is heading. Reading this right now though, I wonder what advantages it has over something like dynamic vsync when floating between 40-60 fps.

Anyone ever use autocad on a mac? Does it work as well at windows? A friend is asking me about it. I'm trying to get him to build but he doesn't really want to.

I would imagine so, just might be missing a view tools here and there.

Man I hate pushing out ISOs in CAD. Glad I'm not doing that anyone.

Dual monitors is a must. Nice head phones are a must. nVidia is a must.

I have a SteelSeries set you might be interested in. They are like brand new. Comes with the box and all! lol Just hit me up on Steam if interested. I'll basically give them away if you pay S/H.

What applications from AUTODesk is he running? What type of drawings and renderings is he doing?

An i3 w/ a HD2500 is good enough for non-3D CAD. I used to draw on an old i3 Clarkdale in my work laptop. If it is just simple "line" ISOs and no 3D vectors then he should be fine with a MBP with no dedicated GPU.

Found out what type of drawing he does and what AUTODesk programs he will be using.

Okay, another noob question from a newb. I'm ordering the gtx760 tomorrow.

Question is can i run both my gtx760 and Radeon7700 and get better performance out of it? Or should i just completely remove the 7700. Also, i plan on running dual monitors. Would it be better to keep the 7700 in and run my browsing screen on it and run my gtx760 on my gaming screen? I know i can run both from one card. Just thought i may see a boost in performance. Sorry again for the dumb questions. I am still getting into PC gaming and don't know a lot.
