So here's a fun game to get some more activity in this thread:
Configure Your Dream Gaming System
The theoretical build you likely will never be able to afford (except Coyote). List the parts and their prices, and links to where you can buy them. The Master Race novices should participate as well!
Rules:
1. Build must include monitor setup.
2. With exception of the monitors, build must fit within the confines of an ATX Full Tower (Or super tower like the Corsair Obsidian) case. So, no peripherals like speakers/headset, mouse, keyboard, etc.
3. Obviously, build must be logical and realistic. Parts must be compatible and actually exist.
4. Consider gaming and overall performance to be top priority, along with top notch quality, the best money can buy. More expensive doesn't necessarily mean better.
Anndd go

shite ive got a system at virtually every price point saved as a newegg wishlist. makes quoting super easy

OCN is actually doing a similar thing with dream build up to $2500. They pick a winner every month and are helping them fund it, not sure how much help they are giving exactly.

So I have been trying to sell my 570 on Amazon and I set it like $10 below the other used prices. Well today some dickhead came in and totally blew my price out of the water.

Define realistic? Should we set a budget? Probably get more varying responses if we said make it under $600 or something like that.

interesting... coyote would like to know if they are taking preorders yet?

Nope, I'm saying no budget, just as powerful as you can get in a full/super tower case, but by realistic I mean it has to be parts that exist right now in reality and available to consumers, that's all. Budget builds are boring, and I'm not necessarily offering any prizes.

You mean your not offering to buy it for me? this sucks...

So I'm watching the lsu baseball game on tv. Since I don't get it in hi def here it's not as clear a picture. From an angle they just showed the foul lines looked all jagged and my first though was, this needs AA... Master race thoughts...

That's interlacing but yeah...

You picked the 3960x, yet the 3970x is faster and slightly cheaper on Newegg. tsk tsk
Also, you might want to run that setup by a PSU calculator... Account for capacitor aging, and a good watercooler's overclock on that CPU. I was configuring a similar system today (quad titans, socket 2011, dual pumps, etc), and if you're doing it correctly, you need beyond 1250w. And that doesn't even account for the overclock that you get out of those 4 titans. The most workable and safe solution for a PC of this caliber is to use two PSUs. Probably two seasonic 850w. 80-plus platinum, of course.

My build -- very similar:
Core i7-3970X -- $1029
ASRock X79 Extreme11 LGA 2011 -- $599
G.Skill Ripjaws Z series 64gb (8x8gb) DDR 2133 -- $679
4 x GTX Titans -- $4279
2x Samsung 840Pro 512GB - $1039
5x 4TB HDDs - ~$1000-1500
2 x Seasonic Platinum 860w -- $400
One of the big fat caselabs cases, like the SMH10 -- $500
About $1350 in watercooling supplies, including heatkillers for the titans, XSPC RX radiators, dual pumps in bay reservoir, nice compression fittings, CPU block, etc.
3 x Overlord Tempest X270OC 27" IPS OCed to 120hz -- $1650
Total: ~$12,500
There are a few things I could stand to do more research on, like the RAM and the motherboard. If I had a budget of, say, 10 grand, I'd probably get a motherboard in more of the $400 range, lose one of the titans, reconsider storage/SSD options, etc.

My current build? haha
None the less.. I'm buy a 3rd Titan with Haswell. IDK, just feel the need for 3.
My dream build would be something like 2 x 3970Xs and 4 x Titans all with AquaComputer Blocks on separate loops with 4 x D5 Pumps pushing to 4 x 480 RADs.
As for a monitor setup.. I tried Surround and did not enjoy it, at all. I much rather game on a single 1440p @ 90hz.(Not 120 due to motion blur)

My H60 fan has a terrible whine every other time i turn it on or so.
and by terrible, i dont mean oh its slightly audible over an otherwise silent case - i can hear the damn whine over the two 80mm fans in the diablotek psu im using as a test until my SeaSonic comes in.
needless to say im not amused.

blue wth are you trying to do now? getting rid of the twin frozers you just bought for a 7970?

I will probably pick up a GTX 770 for "testing" and kicks.. but the 780 is supposed to be a toned down Titan "GK110".. soo my Titans are safe on top of the GPU world until 2014 Maxwell.
For those looking to upgrade.. the 770s are refreshed 680s at a CHEAPER PROPOSED PRICE POINT.. lol Might want to look into it.
