you see the 2 options i found in the forums about fixing my pc for BioShoc?
1 - underclock the stock overoverclocked GPU
2 - use a different pci slot than i am currently using.(the reason this one gives me hope, is because they guy who did, has the exact same mobo as me)
but i can't see how #2 would make a difference.
thoughts?
also, i saw your server build specs. that is going to be overkill but awesome it you plan on using it for what we talked about on steam.
we've got servers here with Xeon Processors at 3.07GHZ & 4GB of RAM. I'm sure your build will be just fine.

About ur gpu, idk how under clocking effects a factory stable clock. Maybe try..
About the server, it will become an application server running .net and SQL backend. So saying this is will need some computational horsepower.

i've got some more ideas for your other server question, what we talked about over Steam.
I talked to my guy. He had questions i couldn't answer because I'm not in your shoes haha.
we'll talk over steam.
also, i'm going to give the change of PCI slot idea a shot. I can't see how that would change anything, but frick it. Is that going to change any of my PrecisionX settings or will i have issues with drivers moving from one PCI slot to another?
Anyone have any Steam Codes for civilzation # type games? I'm not really a Leaque of Legends or DOTA type guy.

Yea man, we are looking for an IT consultantant/coder in networking and server apps. You might be the man for the job.. But that is for another conversation.
We need to jump on Skype or vent Klark. We can iron out the gpu problems and my issues quicker lol

general PC Discussion topic:
I see people in here and elsewhere talking about Crossfire or SLI'ing GPUs.
So help me understand, this is like combining the power of 2 GPU's to act as 1. Sort of like teaming NICs?
why not just buy that much better of a single GPU instead of having 2? obviously this doesn't apply to your Titans Coyote,
....nope i do not code. i've dodged doing so since college. that's why i went infrastructure. i understand a few languages, can even help debug, but i am no code junkie.

I have one 7950, now if I buy better card that 7950 becomes useless, but I can combine two 7950's and have more power than one 7970 and the extra 7950 will cost me less than a 7970.

do they have to be the same make and model?

Have to be in the same series most of the time, but there are times I think when this isn't true but the must be very close in the exception cases.

NVIDIA cards have to be the same model (670 with a 670, 660ti with a 660ti, etc)
AMD cards have to be the same series (79xx with another 79xx, 68xx with another 68xx, etc)

Yup you can. The 7970 would run as a 7950, though so you'd be paying extra for basically a 7950

The reason for it was covered in the last few posts, but there are cons as well. For starters, you will want to already have a motherboard that supports it (full bandwidth for both cards, not just an extra PCIe 16x that doesn't run at full capacity when both slots are occupied).
Second, obviously you need the PSU overheard to support the extra power consumption from the other card. If you aren't watercooling, that's extra noise and heat.
Third, there are too many games, especially popular titles (ahem*console ports*), that are not optimized for dual-card configurations. Flickering, microstutter, or no usage of the second GPU at all. Then you have to wait for a driver update, if it comes. Or you might roll back to an older driver to get the game to work properly, only to find that performance/scaling suffers in other games because of the driver. Up to the day I got rid of my crossfired 6950s late last year, Skyrim still didn't work properly with crossfire. I've heard the same with SLI. I've also heard that the AMD 7000 series does a better job with crossfire. I've also heard the opposite. It's a crapshoot I suppose.

this evening i tried 2 fixes.
- rolling back to a previous set of nvidia drivers. No luck.
- moving my GPU to a different PCI slot. No luck.
i'm out of ideas from the 2k Forum thread on the issue. Appears NVidea and 2K aren't real concerned with the issue either, as they haven't released any notice they are working on the issue.
i may just have to go buy it for my xbox. sigh

I feel I am finally joining the master race. Saw a good gaming computer and scooped it up for 400 dollars. Specs are:
CPU AMD Quad Core FX-4170 4.2 ghz
Asus mother board
8 gigs of RAM
Sapphire 11188-22-20G HD6950 2 gig
1TB SATA drive
Coolermaster RS600-PCARE-US
I have no clue what half of that meant
. Also has a case that is ver perty and easy to upgrade. Don't know what to download first.

Where did you get it?
That's a great video card for the price of the build
Edit: Without the video card and case, the parts are worth around $350 (using the cheapest of each part I could find since you didn't specify). That's not a bad deal at all, but I would recommend upgrading that power supply asap
