PC won't be just for D2. Have a ton of games. This will actually be my first build as well. I spend 99% of the year traveling and up until now have only owned gaming laptops (my son has my older Asus with a 980m, my wife now uses my MSI GT73-vr with a 1080, and I am now on a Razer Blade Pro with a 1080). Really wanting a desktop.

Yup, quite the rebound. We'll see if it tanks again.

Intel quietly releases 7920X base clock

600MHz slower than Threadrippers 12 core. Intel is just getting bent over.

The comments on any Intel CPU article are always so gold now.

They are but why does it matter if they turbo higher?

Edt: The price for the 16C/32T is so damn tempting.

From what I can tell the OC is quite poor on them as well as the serious heat issues Intel has developed.

It's getting bad, like real bad.

TR is actually going to mop the floor with Intel it appears.

I'm not complaining.

It probably is but OC is not turbo really. OC is simply taking it pass factory safe limits. Base and Turbo do not always have an understandable relationship with each other. Not always this plot-able thing.

No comment. It wont be too bad on performance side but price/performance is retarded with Intel. Can't believe they aren't lowering prices.

The only thing that might help them this GEN is that on the server side, companies have already bought into their suites and programs. Like vPro requires a damn membership for support. That keeps ppl on Intel platforms for sometime.

Obviously. You mentioned turbo but they didn't release that so not much to say. If you want to speculate the max turbo gain so far is 1GHz which would put it at 3.9 still below TR turbo at 4.

I thought you didn't like to speculate or go off rumors?

Only when it suites your narrative huh? Hmmm..

But yes, It probably will be around 3.8 - 4.0. Turbo 3.0 will probably hit 4.1-4.2 but that is only the best 2 cores, so not the whole package.

I said if YOU want to, you mentioned turbo, I don't because they didn't release it as I said.

TR turbo is 4.0 and XFR 4.1.

The thing here though is ARM is taking over with serious traction in that market.

Intel will post its worst growth in its history this year for data centers.

Intel isn't just starting to lose their arse on the desktop CPU side, there is a lot more to it than that.

No point in comparing speeds on completely different architectures. When will we start seeing benchmarks for both of these chips?

They are pretty far from each other since Intel has switched to shared L3 and larger L2, but still that is a little unsettling.

Please take time to check this article out. Pretty funny stuff.

The Top 5 Worst Motherboards of All Time We have been reviewing motherboards here at HardOCP for about 20 years now. And in that time, many have been flush with horrible features and bugs of all kinds. Dan takes a stroll down a very painful memory lane and rehashes his top five..as instructed by his therapist. Let it out Dan...let it out.

HardOCP - Top 5 Worst MOBOS

Funny thing is I own the lesser version of the GIGABYTE 990FXA-UD7 with the GIGABYTE 990FXA-UD5. IMO it is the best AM3+ I’ve owned. Through the AM3/+ platform years I’ve owned at less 10-12 different ATX/mATX boards. Nothing really came close to the quality of that board.
I’ve thought about upgrading to the UD7 several times but never did, glad the trigger wasn’t pulled. But.. come to think of it, several ppl here had that board and loved it. So the article is a little confusing for me.
