I actually really miss 144Hz. :/

Next year we'll start seeing 120Hz 4K displays and I'll upgrade again even if it requires to 2 Vega cards to push it.

Luckily all the new cards are compatible with both DisplayPort1.3 and 1.4.

1.3 can do 4K 120Hz, and 1.4 can do 4K 120Hz HDR 10bit color.

Speaking of HDR, I wonder when games will begin to incorporate it? Monitors should next year now with all new TV's having HDR and most use 10 bit color too. May have some really sick monitors next year.

The thought of gaming on a 4K 120Hz 10 bit color monitor with high dynamic range in a few years gets me excited.

I just got this mic combo for my desktop LINK.

Is there a cheap way to make the mic wireless? I hate having cable clutter

Haha I had a chuckle at that too. Was fun to unbox a $6000 computer.

I bet. It's been a while since I've had the opportunity play with ultra high-end HW. It's the specialized workstation builds I miss the most, where the 6- and 8-core CPUs and 32GB of RAM actually serve a purpose.

This PC will have 128 GB of RAM I was told. I really hope this guy actually is a storm chaser or he's just pissing money.

You need to tell the guy he needs to step up his game to the new $10,000.00 AMD GPU that comes with 1TB of on-board low-latency storage on the GPU. It can render 8k video in real-time at 90 FPS. Today's top of the line consumer GPU's can only render it at between 9-15 FPS

So is there any downside to settling an aggressive or 100% fan profile other than noise when overclocking? Also what are some of the better benchmarks for OC'ing?

You'll wear out the fan faster. Maybe not over the length of time you'll actually have the card, though. Most GPU coolers use sleeve bearing fans, unless that's changed in recent years. Lifespan is more unpredictable in those.

Why are mATX/ITX z77 motherboards so damn expensive these days? I just got a 3570k, but the cheapest z77 mATX case I can find is $150

Try Craigslist.

Seriously, I've seen a couple of looking like decent condition older z77 and z87 boards for under $100.

U need one?

Have several mATX and ATX. Which you need? TheY are all ASUS Deluxe something.

Are you still in BR?

Edt: I would have given you almost anything but a GPU and CPU.

Also not z77 or z87 but H-77 and H-87.
