Hmm, I ran my sli 970s before I pulled them, here is a comparison and I am not sure why some are lower. Not quite sure how to interpret this. I don't know something is wrong, when I click the OC mode it freezes my system but I have read where they are having a ton of RMAs due to pushing the OC too far, so I try a manual increase and even the smallest increase freezes the system. Gonna have to play around and see if I can find the problem.

I'm going to RMA this card, the stock OC mode locks up the system and even the slightest mod of the settings locks up the system.

Stock results/scores look normal. I thought I remember reading that the strix was a poor overclocker as well. But if their factory OC doesn't even work, that's a fail.

Yeah even at 10 bump in clock speed crashes it, I doubt the machine produced it right up to the edge. I may have lost the silicone lottery but if you ship it with a factory OC speed that crashes the system I have a problem.

Without some tool from ASUS which unlocks the higher OC mode. It can hit with air cooling around 2020MHz.

Idk, but it is stupid.
My thinking it that it's for RMA. They probably bin a certain percent of the batch and not every chip is binned like EVGA Kingpins.

Oh he definitely got an unlucky lemon 100%. There is a forum post about it with a few others of the same luck.

By rule of statistics (I've built hundreds of PCs), I've received at least one of every type of core component DOA (or not fully functional). Except for CPUs.

If you look at the tweakui screenshot you will see I am in Gaming Mode, if I try to use the factory OC mode the system freezes. The reports of them shipping messed up cards is either true or I got the unlucky straw either way by the time I can find another one to take my chances with we will be too close to the next big thing.
