What kind of game is this?
quote:
Outlast is a first-person survival horror game set in an asylum. The main character, Miles Upshur, is incapable of combat, except for certain scripted sequences in which he pushes enemies away.
To navigate the environment, the character is able to climb to ledges, vault over low obstacles, crawl, and slide in narrow gaps.
Except for vaulting, enemies are incapable of any of these maneuvers, which gives the player a certain edge. In addition, the player can survive encounters with the inmates by hiding inside of lockers or under beds, although certain enemies may search the room and attempt to locate the player for a short time before moving on. Since much of the asylum is dark, the player must use Miles' video camera to see, thanks to its night vision function.
Using night vision consumes batteries, replacements of which are scattered throughout the environment. When injured, Upshur must avoid taking any further damage for a while, which will allow him to recover.

Sounds like I'll need to play this with a diaper on.

my experience playing RE 1 and 2 have allowed me to know where to look for batteries

I keep running out of batteries in the basement. I can't get past that one zombie that keeps checking the two rooms with the gas pumps

Someone needs to go ahead and put Possible spoilers in the subject

OK when you first enter the room run to the left room and turn that thing on. then run to the right room and turn that on. you have enough time because the room to the far left (where that guy comes out at) he takes a while to come out. wait in the right room until he goes back in the room he came out of. once he comes out you'll need to go in and go down the end of the hall to flip the breaker. once you do hide because he's coming. wait for him to leave again (he found me so I had to haul arse ) and wait for an opening to turn on the generator. took me 5 tries.

Yeah frick that guy. He's pretty dumb though. He'll chase me into a room with nowhere to go except under the bed and he acts like I disappeared from existence.

is this game like the old Clock Tower games?

FYI, using night vision takes about 10 times as much battery. You want to keep the camera on to catch notes, but only use night vision when you absolutely can't see.
RE comment cracked me up bc it's so true

Do they let you watch what you recorded at the end of the game? That would be kinda sweet

Haven't made it there yet.
Has anyone finished it yet? No spoilers, just curious

Hopefully that Whistleblower prequel will make it our way also. I would think it will if this gets a good reception on the console, which I think it has so far

I need more games like this. The CODs, BFs, and sports games get old.

I've turned into the same way Guess that happens when you get older.
I get bored with the FPS now and I don't really have the time to get into sports games since I'm more of a franchise player.
