How the hell do you find main story missions? If you hold the dpad down button to switch it shows a 1 on Franklin meaning he has the current mission right?

It may not be a main mission, he may just have a small one

How do I switch back to Michael or Franklin? I'm stuck doing Trevor's missions. It told me they were lying low a while back but it doesn't say it anymore.

The garage is always higlighted as a mission me thinks. And you always have a 1 for each character on the character wheel.

Hold down on the dpad. They may not be available though until you get through certain missions with Trevor. Or you may just have to wait.

You have to do the missions up north with Trev, then he comes to LS and you can switch back.

I know that but when there are no available main missions, there is still a 1 by each character in the wheel, and the garage is the only colored symbol.

How do you use the parachute? I found one at the top of the mountain then jumped off the side. I died.
Maybe it was too short of a fall for the parachute? Sure was far enough to kill me though.
