not sure if online poker is "gaming" for this boards purposes, but curious if anyone here plays anymore? seemed to be way more popular a few years ago, but you can still play at places like Bovada.

Anyone play? Anyone think there is cheating? If so, how?

I've kinda started playing a little here and there again, pretty fun and can win some extra cash, there are some bad players out there! I've never had a problem receiving a payout either.

How does it work through Bovada?

Ever since black Friday I've stayed away, and I think most people have too. Until there's no new legislation I don't think it will ever recover.

fish to grinders ratio sucks online now. its difficult (compared to pre black friday) to setup an account and get funded and receive payment, so everyone playing is either a grinder or at least has a reasonable commitment to becoming a better player. i dont see a point in it now.

Def cheating. why else would it broadcast to everyone which hand # is being played? lost a $780 pot to some moron who double re raised with 33, after i flopped Aces full of Kings, i went all in after a raise post flop, 2nd guy re raised all in with a flush draw like a retard. 33 re raises over the top. Runner runner quads. NO WAY that idiot risks $300 with a pair on the board and str8/flush draws sitting there with 2 people already all in.

Set up hands are everywhere online. and people say its just because you see a lot more hands than live games. No way. the only real way to win consistently is to catch draws. if you try & wait for straights and trips youll get flushed on all day, and every time anyone has a flush draw theyre shipping it.

well i have the same account ive had for probably 10 years and receiving payment was just a check in the mail last time. Obviously it doesnt say its from Bovada

eta: bovada only allows US players as well, which i like. I have no idea how they get around all the legal shite, but it works, at least so far

One of the reasons poker is awesome is it has it's own language. It allows people to feel like they are in the know. I'd estimate at it's peak, less than 10% of the people actually knew what they were actually doing. The other 90% were clueless or just imitating things they saw or read. Good times.

Worst part about the game, getting beat by someone who's clueless. It's like being Shaq and getting dunked on by some HS kid, who more often than not proceeds to trash talk after suckering out or getting lucky.

Good for you.
Figuring out which sites are legitimate, setting up a new account, and waiting for payouts are all much more of a pain in the arse than the old days.
I could be signed up and deposited in 5 minutes pre black friday. Payouts were same day confirmations with at max a 3 day wait for ETF. Fish for days, every businessman and smartass 22 year old thought they were the next Moneymaker - who needed a job with so many whales sitting at the table?

Nothing like that now. Now you have to work for a living. I dont play poker to work, i play poker specifically not to work. Thus I no longer play online poker.

I used to refer to everything in life in terms of +EV/-EV. That shite gets in your blood, consumes all your entire thought process.

It took years to get those thoughts out of my system. Black Friday left a huge void in my life. It sounds sad but it was the only thing I thought about every waking second. I tried to transition to live but I got married and work 50+ hours a week. I eventually had to give it up and now I guess video games have kinda taken it's place.
