Pretty sure that's a troll job. I know one redditor took the bait and followed one for several hours, only to have his graphics glitch.

PSA: you should complete every character's side quest that you meet in main quest. Some are extraordinary.

is negotiation pointless I am I just doing it wrong because there's an option to try to get like 150 extra Crowns but I can only ever get less than 10 extra

And is there way to immediately read letters that you find in a quest it seems tedious you have to open up your inventory go to quest items and then manually read the letter

I usually get like 20-30 more for negotiating. If you don't do it beforehand, there is an option to try and get more after the mission as well.
The notes thing pisses me off. If I pick it up, just assume it is read. I can't stand doing a side mission where I have to start by reading a not I picked up 20 gameplay hours ago. I don't know which one it is. I then re-read every note, somehow discover like 6 more quests that I didn't have because a note wasn't read, and then the cycle is repeated. So annoying.

It doesn't seem random at all, I have found the max to be around 10 and it seems to be that way for everyone I have tried it with.
On the note thing I don't think so, it's a pain be cause if you visit the tab and leave the * goes away and you have to find the new one.

But it's pointless extra steps think about it you pick up a note or letter during a quest and then you get a quest update that says read the letter and then ya have to open your inventory select the letter and then read it I mean frick just have it pop up automatically. Or R3 to read letter like when you get new quest

Ha,I've done the quest and not even realized it. Stumbled on the note while doing another quest. There were no shady individuals around.

Thanks to the Pyres of Novigrad glitch I had to do Skellige first while I waited for the update and now i'm pretty far in the Novigrad story and since Imm so OP i'm only getting 5 exp for every mission. So dumb.
