Horses are amazing for 2 reasons.
1) they can climb mountains in places you can't.
2) they can still run when you are over-encumbered.
Also if anyone is interested this is a GREAT read for mages/archers.. or just anyone interested in being better..

Do you have to be a Vamp/Werewolf to finish the companions guild?
Also can companions drink potions?

I'm not sure as I'm almost solely working on Miscellaneous quests to make the game last longer.
But I tend to agree with the people who want to be a werewolf just to prevent the hassle of being a vampire..

went to the bar last night and got whiskey bent. came home at 1:00 and tried to play a little bit. i guess i passed out in the chair because i woke up about 5 in the morning outside of whiterun. i was running back to the town and a dragon shows up. killed the dragon bout 515, took a piss, went back to sleep.

Yeah, it kicks it up a bit. Either that, or I'm going crazy.
Did not know that.
Just looked it up to make sure, and found a few different places saying it.

Also, she only opens chests and not doors. Master lock chest? No problem. Novice door? Can't do that. count.

I didn't even know she'd do that.
It's funny how little I know of this game. I played for about 5 hours last night. I learned a lot of new shite and thought I was making progress, then I come over here and I realize I know nothing.

Read on another board, an instance where a player went to a bar in Riften and got drunk, and the character then woke up on the other side of Skyrim.
I have to try this out.

It's a quest called "A Night to Remember." You get a cool staff from the Daedra prince Sanguine and takes very little time. The staff summons a daedra warrior to help you.

Two things:
1) I skipped Whiterun and went straight to the College. Is that a good idea?
2) What mods are the PC users installing? What has worked well?

That happened to me. Only for me it happened in Windhelm and I ended up hungover Marakath. That was definitely one of the more interesting quests so far.
man, this game is really starting to mess with my sleep. I intended to stop playing last night at 11, but I got this quest to kill a dragon. After slaying it, I found a word wall and out of a coffin comes this lich king thing named Krosis. I finally went to bed after giving up around 1 am. That guy might be unbeatable for me. At least right now.

I know where they are. Just didn't want to spend the money. Just used my entire bank to buy and upgrade my house.
What's the perks to buying a house? Or is just one of those "cool to have" type of features?

Just saw that. My RPG skills are rusty. Need to start resting my character in a bed.

Very late to this thread
Went and traded some games for Skyrim last night. Started about 8:30 playing. FML, I went to save a game and realized that it said it was 1:35 AM. I had to make myself quit and go to bed. I am 43 yrs old and can't game all night without causing myself undue pain. it really didn't seem like I had played that long. I honestly thought about just playing straight through until time to go to work but that would have been a disaster.
Great game so far

Oh man, another story that someone wrote:

This game is nuts!
So I was in Rifton, doing stuff and became over-encumbered. So I was like "yeah what the heck drop some of that armour". The townspeople started gathering around the loot and yelled at each other, "that's mine!" "no it's mine!" etc.
Apparently they could not decide who gets the loot so two people started a fricking Knife fight to death!
The Dark elves won and killed the poor women. And as a matter of fact, that dead women was a quest person so I had a message pop up that one of my quests has failed.
This is the best game ever!

I dropped some stuff I didn't want inside a city and one kind gentleman returned the items to me. I proceeded to drop them again because I didn't want them.

I'm stubborn about that. I've wandered around for like 30 minutes looking for ANY kind of vendor so I wouldn't lose my loot. It's painful.
Also, Bethesda is pretty sneaky. I found a masterlock, so I quicksaved and gave it a whirl. After breaking about 10 lockpicks, I found the sweet spot. Loaded quicksave, went to unlock........and it changed.

Heh, I had the same thing happen. I'm in Whiterun, after conquering the city in the Civil War. So as the Former Jarl is lead to his quarters to collect his things, I'm trying to pick a display lock on this sweet looking Elvaan sword. Broke 15+ locks, finally got it open, but got caught once I picked up the sword :( Reloaded the save, waited for the guards and former Jarl to get into his room, then retry the lock...it was in a different place...Another 10 or so lockpicks...

The problem I ran into last night is that I sold a ton of expensive stuff to a vendors in a couple different towns, and now none of these same guys have money left to buy more of my stuff.
