Ashina Elite - Jinsuke Saze might have been the easiest mini-boss I've ever encountered in a FROM game. I was actually stunned how easily and quickly I beat him. Literally lasted 30 seconds.
I know the boss following him is going to be a pain in the arse though

This boss took me 15 seconds to beat and I did it the first time.....I just got a back stab on him and then just spammed attack, no problem.

All my frustrating memories of Genichiro have been supplanted by the Owl.

I fought Genichiro for about 4 hours last night and still couldn’t beat him. Got to the second phase several times and then got wrecked almost immediately. I really want to beat him today because I’ve heard it’s when the game really “opens up”

It does open up greatly after him.
Be sure you're jumping in P2 when he lightning strikes, then you can throw it back at him with RB.

are you still playing it like a souls game? If you are, you will never beat him. Learn to deflect and counterattack him constantly. I found being aggressive helps a lot since you can stun him easily.

Got him. Did first 2 phases with no items, and then in 3rd phase popped some confetti and used Malcontent to whistle his arse to death.
All that's left is Sword Saint.
From everything in this thread, this should be fun.

nah, I'm playing aggressive to bait him into attacking and deflecting, it's just in the second phase his move sets get way more aggressive.
On one occasion when I made it to phase 2, immediately after the cut scene he came at me with a perilous attack that I had no idea how to defend and didn't even have time to react. One hit and dead.
