The boss on the ship gave me issues until I realized you can't dodge the rock throw point blank without a double jump and that takes took much stamina. Once I put distance the fight is a cakewalk. Unless he grabs you his moveset is really easy to dodge.
Yea he gave me issues with that too. BB put that habit of staying close and just dodging everything in me. Once I kept my distance from him it was easy enough.

But what I am saying is you both have to complete the level. Meaning the only time you can team up with a friend is if you are just grinding. So you can't really help.
That isn't true. I've had a friend ahead of me come with me to beat levels I have not beaten yet. You just can't be summoned unless you've cleared it.

I just read what the issue was. We were doing the Torii gate thing...
I didn't realize we could do a password summoning in a level like souls/BB.

Cool. Just keep in mind that the game takes place in the very end of that era. You could probably start with the 4th episode.

On the frogger boss, chipping away at the game slowly.

I can see why you loved bloodborne.
not even close to the same and you know that, totes. every district of Yharnam and the outlying areas brought totally different things to the table. the beauty of central yharnam at dusk, the creepy upper cathedral ward, the quarantined Old Yharnam, the tragic hospital and fishing hamlet, both nightmare areas. every area had different enemies, different atmospheres, different feels. the different enemies and NPCs in each area really told a story, in addition to the item descriptions.
there's just not much information to pull from Nioh. every level feels like the same feudal japanese castle and cave assets are reused, and it doesnt help that the levels are selected from a map and only given a paragraph to draw details from. the storytelling and worldbuilding are just not there for me
i know i sound picky, but i really think im just spoiled by the Soulsborne games. those mfrs can build a world

You must have just got too good at games .....
i really dont think so.
i just smashed the spider bitch on first try. for reference, i am not overleveled (I've only played each map once - 0 grinding) and I didnt luck out with some super OP weapon. I've used Raikiri ever since getting it from Tachibana's wife and I've only soul leveled it once to level 41.
the boss' movesets just take no time to figure out, and im really hoping that they saved the extended movesets for Twilight missions. ive beaten every boss on the first try except Twilight Umi-Bozu (stupid frickin instakill beam timing changes in twilight). I'm using Raikiri and all light/medium armor (B rating for mobility). Seems like every boss can be beaten by dodging towards them rather than away/to the side. spider woman was a joke

I haven't beaten a single boss in less than five tries.
If not for Mystery explaining every minute detail that an intelligent person would pick up on his own, I'd probably go through the whole game using basic gear and wonder why it sucked.

I've also had help on each of the bosses, except for the first.
And this is my third souls-like game.

Plan on getting into it this week.
Noob question: what are he most important stats for a generic sword build? The stats are a bit confusing to me.

The streak has ended. Lost on my first attempt to the boss of the snow level. Got hit with homing crystal soulmass about 2sec into the fight, instant kill LOL. I need to put some points in Body
Jombie, if you want a basic single katana build, pump up Heart stat

You are literally the only person I know who is saying this. Blooborne bosses were way easier than these for me.
Keep in mind I play these games blind unless I need help with a build or get really stuck.

This guy surely tries to take the RPG out of these games.
