I don't know why you can't get in the front door, but the mission won't end/progress until you get inside and do something with the synths in the basement of the compound.

Aren't mods supposed to be coming out for consoles? Anyone have an idea when? I'd really like some settlement mods

You don't go in the front door. You need to walk all the way around to the side door.
I wasn't a fan of any of the factions.
This is a pivotal point though. You might want to read up on what happens. You can permanently piss off some folks at this point.
I warned the Railroad, didn't warn BOS and tried to smooth things out with Father.

Went on a Power Armor spree last night. Think I got 9-10. Was fun doing so. I am level 33 and after taking some advice and putting points into rifleman I am now not getting owned so bad in the south. Cant wait to go back out for more.
Also my Sanctuary happiness is rapdily declining? What gives? They have plenty of food and beds and built 6 shops.

It should tell you what is going down. Is everything in the green?

Happiness is stupid buggy and useless.
Unless you are specifically trying for 100 in 1 location for the achievement I'd ignore it.

With the new beta patch, you can see what you have Settlers assigned to do.
On my first play through Level 114, I don't think I broke 80.
Now, I have 80+ and 96 at Sanctuary.
I think a key component to happiness is WORK.
You need to assign everyone to a task.
Also, if you hear the sleeping in shifts message, you need to assign some folks to beds. They might not be able to find where you have placed the beds.
But I am sure, the key component people are missing is work.

There are no indications as to what it needs. Defense/food/beds show green I cant think of what else shows but there isnt a ! near sanctuary in the pipboy. Its down to 62% I believe.

Talk to a,settler. They will tell you.
Probably a pack of 5 lvl 6 ghouls 50 miles away has em spooked.

How do I see what settlers are assigned too? Playing on xbone btw.

I wasn't initially impressed, but now I am. Makes assigning people a million times easier.
I really like messing with settlements so it does keep me from assigning the same people over and over.

Now that I think about it I may have corrected this last night then. I asked one of them what was wrong and they said they wished there were more beds. Well There are about 10 more beds than there are settlers. I went to assign some and I kept getting confused with assignment.

You don't see if they have a bed assigned.
You just do it. I typically grab about 5 people and assign the beds the furthest away. Typically the 3rd floor of my structures.

I like the settlements too but I really only touch up things in the Sanctuary. The other settlements do not have all the things you can scrap to build decently.
Every time I go out on missions I take whatever junk/weapon/misc I collected back to Sanctuary Hill and store everything there. From there I just modify my weapons, armor, cooking, and fixing up the Sanc.
Maybe I'm just lazy but I feel like I would have to take whatever requirement I'm lacking(circuitry, gears, etc) from Sanc Hills(where I store everything) then fast travel to whatever settlement location is to improve defense, resource, beds, furniture, etc). Also, some of the other settlements have limited resources around to scrap to begin with, so you are forced to do it this way unless there's a faster way. I just don't like having things stored in different locations throughout the map, just gets confusing to know what your true inventory looks like.

Supply Lines son..... Supply lines.

Yeah I need the Local Leader 2 perk to get that though right? I need another star to get that perk. Then I can set up stores and shite.

Charisma perk, level 7, Local leader, shares junk between all connected settlements.
Assign one settler from each settlement to a supply line.
Link all your settlements with supply lines.
Profit.

Nice. I guess Ill need to get the Charisma perk next.
ETA already at level 7 with Charisma. Hopefully just the one star for Local Leader should do the trick. The second star is what will allow me to set up shops.

Do a continuous chain.
A to B, someone from B to C, someone from C to D. And so on.
