I found a marksman .50 cal sniper on top of some building and its pretty damn amazing.

You must have low luck and scavenging because I started with high luck and put points into scavenging early. Never had an ammo problem and never had a core problem.
Although I never used the suit until I hit the Glowing Sea.
I think I have about 200 cores now. Having said that, I have searched just about everywhere.

Stole a scoped .44 from Virgil in the glowing see. Love it. Got my hand gun, non auto, perk up too so it does 94 or 96 damge. I still have 1 or 2 more to go to max that out. I use that, my sniper that does alot of damage and my Spray and Pray. I still use my 10mm for rad roaches and the like just to save ammo. Occasionally I'll use my shotgun on ghouls in close quarters. I snipe alot too when I can. Usually a one shot kill to the head unless they are Legendary or something.

No way I could start over. Too much time into the game already.
That happened to me when playing the original Dragon Ages. I sold every item to the same merchant. Every single item in the game went to the one merchant and it corrupted all of my saves about 80 hours in.

Just reading a handful of forum posts, try "verify integrity of game cache" (right click on the game in your library).
But sounds like steam cloud isn't the most reliable from what I'm seeing.

If you haven't rebooted your computer in a while. Restart it. Then open steam. Then do what the other folks suggested.

frick, I'd go on a twelve state killing spree. Losing three hours of gameplay due to a bug almost cost me an xbox one console, several times, but I guess it could be worse.
