There is also a good Diablo in 5 min video on YouTube.
My D3 mouse came in a couple days ago. I've been itching to use it, so I played a little torchlight with it. So far so good!

Ok so I havent tried the beta. My question is, am I setting myself up for a let down if the game doesnt live up to the hype. I'm expecting alot from this game. Played Diablo II for years before WoW pulled me in.
Several games were let downs to me. AOC and Aion. to name a few.

I don't think it will be a let down.
Well, at least I hope it isn't.

Whats up guys!
I'm a pretty casual gamer, but I was reading about Diablo 3 and it sounds quite intriguing. I have no computer gaming experience and would be playing on a MacBook Pro, fwiw. I have some questions
1.Is this game for hardcore gamers only? To give you an idea, my favorite RPGs ever are Dark Souls (also my favorite game ever), Witcher 2, and Oblivion. I don't want to buy this and just be lost.
2. I'm assuming I will need a mouse (if y'all recommend me to buy for computer instead of 360). Any recommendations? I can't see playing with a trackpad being very fun
3. This game looks a lot like a game I played when I was a child called Silver (for Dreamcast (what I played on
) and PC). I'll post a link as y'all probably have NO idea what it is
. If y'all agree that it is like Silver, then I will probably most definitely buy it.

Game looks really fun and a lot of my friends are begging me to get it, I just need some extra motivation. Let me know what y'all think!

The main knock against it is doing away with attribute allocation. Which, I'm okay with. I have never been much of a min/maxer and I found the D2 level up system to be burdensome. Nothing like realizing you fricked up early on in speccing.

No, Blizzard does an awesome job of catering to casual and hardcore gamers alike, if your not going to play it hardcore the inferno difficultly level will be tough, but the lead developer of the game said it will be nearly impossible for the first couple of weeks.

Yeah, I never understood the hate for that.
I never knew where to put skill points in D2 anyway.

Just making sure I understand this right (haven't kept up with D3 info until now, really)... is it basically impossible to screw up a character now? Since you can just switch out your skills/runes?

So pumped
Did Paladin the most in D2, but it looks like I'm gonna start off with the Wizard here.
Barbarian also looks fun as shite.

The character customization in D3 is really quite superior to any other paradigm I've seen. It encourages experimentation and allows for a diversity of viable builds.
You can tell WoW is tyring to employ something similar in MoP, although it isn't nearly as in depth.
Was talent allocation in D2 similar to what was found in WoW? Simply a "tree" with various paths for talent points?

One of the best moves Blizz has done in a while imo

I agree, although three talent offerings every 15 levels isn't nearly enough, especially with classes that have multiple roles.
Developers have to offer talents that appeal to each role, but if a player is insistent on one particular role (ie, healing), then they really don't have to make a difficult choice as to which talent to select.

It had the tree that that you allocated points to. So you could level up the skills from the tree you already selected. You also had to allocate attribute points (Strength, Dexterity, Vitality, Magic).

I was thinking about using a few Horse Tranquilizers and seeing if I can time it right to wake up at 2am.
Thoughts?
ETA: 2am Tuesday of course.

At first I was disappointed in this new level up system.
Sure, placing skill points and attribute points accordingly means you could screw up your character. But to me that made them WORTH something. I had to really think and plan out how I wanted to build my character. I felt like Diablo 3 doing away with that would cheapen the experience, like everyone could be like everyone else.
But after playing the beta I feel a lot better about how the system works. It feels natural and the diversity in the runes and especially items will determine which skills people use as well. So I still feel in control and unique compared to others of the same class, but I don't have to worry about screwing my character build up or wasting attribute points.
