re: Official Battlefield™ V Open Beta Thread

Very fun. I got a few games in last night. I noticed the recoil is pretty extreme, but probably realistic.

I built a sandbag fortress in an ally one game for fun. I set up my light machine gun with the tripod on top of the sandbag and then out of nowhere 4 enemy troops came running over the bridge in front of me without noticing me. I killed all of them with ease. It was pretty exhilarating lol

Is the battle royale mode available in Open Beta??? Couldn't find it.

I'm the world's biggest Battlefield fanboy, but holy frick, this game is terrible.

Everything about it feels like a Free-2-Play ripoff of Battlefield. The world cried for WWII, but I don't think anyone actually wanted the bullshite Norway or Rotterdam settings. This whole timeline to the new Battlefield has made me hate Sweden, hate DICE and hate video gaming.

I'm honestly going to pass on this game unless they introduce sufficient number of classic maps/battles. This Rotterdam map has nothing going for it. It's not exciting, it's way too big for infantry/light armor only. The map feels way too sparse most of the time.

The Norway map is pretty, but I can't get over the color saturation they are using in this game. I keep seeing the argument that WWII was actually colorful, but it's bullshite. BF1's lighting and saturation was absolutely perfect.

Yeah, and the slower pace of game with your squad being vital to your success is what made Battlefield. frick the CoD transplants and any run and gun bullshite.

My thoughts as a diehard BF guy:

Matches are dead quiet, doesn’t feel like BF at all, the sound design is really lacking

Player models look like blobs and look terrible

Maps are empty even with 64 players

Rotterdam is awful, Narvik is fun fighting in the village

Tanks are too quiet and weak

Graphics are worse than BF1

Snipers are all Asian chicks WTF

The bleed out mechanic is horrendous and they should ax it right now, 10 seconds to bleed out and another 7 to respawn ruins the flow of the game

Meh, this can be fixed with better spawning. Right now it’s very squad heavy reliant, which has its pros and cons.

I don’t really have trouble finding action. As mentioned above, if you’re in a good squad that isn’t dying right away, you can get into action pretty easily.

Yeah this is dumb. Dice’s virtue signalling to SJWs who don’t buy games. The gaming board liberal has more interest in CoD even though he’s in every BF thread defending their efforts on Social Justice rather than being history (semi) accurate. Swing and miss from EA and Dice.

I’m sorry but BF1 beta was glitchy, but so much more polished than this one. Also the graphics don’t really improve that much between beta and release, the engine is the engine. I think it’s the lighting they chose. Also these gameplay additions like the bleed out aren’t gonna be taken away unfortunately, because DICE never listens to their fans.

What pains me the most is that I’m usually a first day buyer for BF’s but I’m gonna have to Redbox this one first before I make a decision. They should honestly delay another 6 months and add a customization vs realistic toggle, get rid of bleed out, add a tremendous amount of sound design, and completely overhaul the UI. If they just reskinned BF1 with WW2 assets and maps I’d be happy, but they changed a lot of shite they shouldn’t have messed with.

I was skeptical of all the SJW crap Dice is pulling but it’s a great game. The gun play feels fantastic. Some lighting flaws and it isn’t fully optimized. Come launch it’s going to look beautiful.

Battlefield 1 was better in virtually every way and I’m honestly not sure it’s worth it to buy this game. I literally would have been happy with a battlefield 1 WW2 reskin. This game just doesn’t feel right. I don’t know why, but it doesn’t. I enjoyed Black Ops 4 beta way more and that’s saying something because I have hated COD since BO2.
