With Battlefield 1, EA and DICE have proven the viability of World War 1 as a time period worth revisiting in first-person shooters. It brings into focus countries and nationalities that do not exist today while also shedding light on how the outcome of that war has shaped our lives. As World War II shooters proved many years ago, no game can truly capture the entirety of a global conflict. This is why the focused structure of the War Stories anthology works well. Moreover, Operations succeeds as an effective educational primer on the battles that this gripping adversarial mode are based on. Battlefield 1 is just an introduction to one of the deadliest world events in history, but it is an outstanding, feature-rich package in both its emotional stories and strong multiplayer. -GameStop

Like a bayonet charge to the face, Battlefield 1 packs a serious punch, and it looks damn good while doing it. With a revamped, emotionally charged campaign, the single-player experience is, without a doubt, the franchise’s best. The multiplayer combines solid classics and unbeatable mechanics with new modes that fit the WWI setting brilliantly. Could this be the Battlefield to end all Battlefields? It just might. -GamingTrend

WRAP UP: BATTLEFIELD 1 SUCCEEDS FAR BEYOND EXPECTATIONS Small issues aside, Battlefield 1 marks an impressive, risk-taking reinvention for the series. That the multiplayer is as good and distinctive as it is is less surprising than a campaign that takes a difficult setting and navigates it with skill and invention. The end result is a shooter than succeeded far beyond my expectations, and one that exists as the best, most complete Battlefield package since 2010. -Polygon

When you die and you get the name of a real soldier and their date of birth and their date of death; I got chills.

Right? Me too. They're just kids, that last one is just 18.

My ea access keeps popping up every 5 minutes on my Xbox. Anyone having the same issue. It's the 10 hour trial pop up.
Maybe it's doing it cause it's still downloading.

No issues like that on PC.
Probably.

Trying to sign up for EA Access so I can play tonight but when I click on the "Get EA Access" link, it redirects me to ordering Xbox Gold for $9.99.
EA Access is only $4.99 a month so what am I doing wrong?

You are so darn weird.
Spends years begging about a non futuristic shooter, gets one that is done to perfection, not interested.

I played about 45 minutes before work this morning and thought it was fantastic.
I was waiting for this for some time because Call of Duty's futuristic shite burned me out. Honestly, it's awesome and this is coming from someone who doesn't really follow Battlefield.
Although, I did mostly play multiplayer. Didn't play much story mode.

Yeah I'm saving story mode for the full game since this is timed, and it looks super good.
I saw the Pigeon gameplay story trailer and man, the feels.
Can watch it here
They capture the brutality of this war so perfectly, right from the get go beating in dudes heads with rocks, stabbing them in the throat, etc.
