Interesting. So you're not really using ninjitsu or omnyo? EDIT: I saw your update, so I'll wait until you have a chance to post the details.

How far did you go in Nioh 1? Did you have a build when you played that? Fightin Cowboy has been uploading some crazy Nioh 2 builds, but they're only really possible in NG+.

Glad to hear that boss got nerfed in the retail release. Between him and the sloth worm creature in the Dark Realm, that level was a nightmare at base level in the Beta.

ETA: One good thing about playing that mission in NG+ is that it has become the official revenant trading spot (by the docks behind you at the start). So if you're looking for stuff with good inheritables, you should find them there.

I only went through NG, then got through Lady Maria in the DLC. When it became clear that they had wanted you to beat NG+ and ++ to proceed with the additional DLCs, I just stopped there. There were way too many good games out at the time and that kinda pissed me off. I struggled through the first dlc bc I was so underleveled, especially with Date Shigezane

Here’s what I have right now

You didn't try your hand at the Abyss in Nioh 1? Man, that's an interesting place, haha. I'm curious if they'll have something similar in Nioh 2 (the devs mentioned there'd be some type of end game, but haven't said what exactly).

Interesting setup! You've really spread your levels around. That's one thing I love about Nioh; basically every build can be viable.

Since you get the Season Pass for Nioh 2? I'm assume the first DLC will drop in another couple of months.

yeah I remember reading about it and it seemed fun. just wasnt about to play through the game 4 more times to have access to the majority of the floors

yeah i always spread things out so i can experiment and see what i like. apparently that doesnt work with ++ and beyond, the guys on reddit swear that I'll have to respec and min/max. i have like 30 resurrection books so i can play with it when that time comes

yep

after experimenting with all the weapons, tonfas are still my favorite. Odachi is most OP. glorious moveset and great stats for scaling

Yeah, that definitely pissed me off. I hated having to run through Way of the Nioh and beat Hundred Eyes just to unlock all of the Abyss floors.

Hahaha, I'm probably one of the guys on Reddit. I do think you need to min max at some point, but not yet. You can't even really start builds until NG+. Plus, who knows what the DLC will bring, so builds will likely drastically change.

I've actually never messed around with tonfa or odachi, so I may swap out my axe for an odachi as my secondary weapon. Can't wait to see what new weapons they release with the DLC!

Finally started on this today.

I had forgotten how numerous all the systems are they throw at you to manage in regards to your weapons, stats, stances, guardians, items, etc.

In an era of modern games mostly streamlining and simplifying everything in sight it's kinda refreshing to see Team Ninja say F THAT and have 500 different things you gotta manage. After a few hours of playing they all become like second nature, obv. having fully played Nioh 1 will help a lot too.

I can def. see new players being completely overwhelmed though. Not a game for casual players.

Regardless, between the character creation screen and the tutorials I spent probably over an hour. Took a break to eat but will begin the actual game game tonight.

At least most of the skill/item descriptions actually make sense now. I've also heard the blacksmith explains A LOT of the mechanics this time around.

ETA: Another new patch dropped today which buffed/nerfed a variety of Yokai skills.

Was wondering what the update was... I respec'd my character a bit and he feels way stronger, instead of just winging it I gave myself a real direction on the build and it's nice

Dual sword/odaci

Eventually it'll be a poison build that I'm emulating from a guy on YT
