It's probably like most handheld controller, does the job but not ideal.
Agreed.
I do wonder if you can use the pro controller with the handheld screen...?

If this console allows me to enjoy all the other games I like such as battlefield and stuff on top of Mario....Zelda....Pokémon....I'm meannnn why wouldn't this thing sell like hot cakes on a Sunday morning.

Looks really good. Some questions and comments I have:
1. Is it backwards compatible at all? I don't expect BC with optical media but what about stuff I own digitally? Can I play Wind Waker HD on the go?
2. What's battery life like? I assume the screen and the left and right controllers have their own batteries based on what was shown in the video. How do they charge?
3. Is it a touch screen? If so single or multi-touch?
4. Interesting that this is the first Nintendo console to not have a traditional d-pad, sans the inclusion of one on the pro controller.
5. What's the storage capacity of the system? Is it expandable? How? SD Cards or proprietary memory?

That will be awfully dumb if not. Was one of my questions too

Another question, is that pro controller included? If it is separate then go frick yourself

Posted on 10/20/16 at 10:38 am to Mr Gardoki
it will almost certainly be sold separately IMO

It'll be separate. I can guarantee that.
Good note from some of the reddit comments:
NO gimmick games
No Nintendo Sports. No NintendoLand. Just real games. No mini games used to "demo" the capabilities.

From engadget:
quote:
It's powered by an unspecified custom Nvidia Tegra processor, which is "based on the same architecture as the world's top-performing GeForce gaming graphics cards." Whether that means Pascal -- the architecture underpinning the 1000 series of GeForce cards and the yet-to-be-announced Tegra X2 -- or just that Tegra chips in general are based on the GeForce architecture, is not clear. But the question of which SoC is powering the Switch -- and whether it's based on newer or older architecture -- is important to answer if we're to work out what exactly it's capable of.

That's a big hit for me and probably many others. That could take a $300 system and make it a $350 system.

Pretty clutch message there. Sony proved that sells even if you don't live up to it

One of the reddit mock ups was 100% accurate even on the color

The last Nintendo product that I owned was a Nintendo 64, but I'll be buying a Switch.

But are those games really a cause for failure of a console, or is there just a correlation because consoles with those types of games tend to be a new concepts that fail for other reasons? I don't have a problem with gimmick demo games if they also bring the real games

True. But those games signaled a concept that was a little bit tougher than just playing a game. The marketing meant that people needed to be "taught," how something was used. While it didn't ruin the Wii at all, it made consumers and game companies react differently.
Consumers had to adapt to something unfamiliar. Game companies had to "sell" that feature in their games. And no one outside of a select few companies ever got motion controls correct.
It was just difficult come the WiiU generation. This tells us the "gimmick," if there is one, is just portability, and everyone understands that concept.

One thing that a lot of folks that I talk to was saying that the success of Pokémon GO was a driving force of the Switch (I don't believe it)

There's a rumor that Nvidia stopped progress on the Shield 2 Tablet to do this....?
So basically, the Switch might be a rebranded Shield 2. Nvidia taking significant development on the hardware, Nintendo working on the software. That's maybe a good sign?
