By shoddy i mean that 3D Tv's and possible games systems's ability to effectively utilize 3D is still in its early stages

Have you watched TV in 3D yet? It looks amazing.

Yes on the high end, most expensive models. On the lower end models, you can see the flickering of the screen. I am referring to the ability of game creators and hardware produces to make systems and games that can effectively exploit the 3D technology. Its not there yet (atleast for a legitimate market value)

Not yet, no, but I think that's where gaming is headed.

roughly $300 on a console and accessories

When the 360 came out, it was a lot more than that for a couple of games, accessories and a 360. So for comparison to a new computer, you have to bump that price up several hundred dollars. New computer vs 360 several years after release date is not a good comparison imho.

I could build a computer comparable to the hardware within a 360 for dirtass cheap, 6 years after the fact.

I tend to support berryNation with this. If the future of consoles is 3D and such, is it REALLY that much more cost effective than building a gaming PC? I mean, if the console itself is gonna cost $400-$500, and, if you're like me and don't already own a 3D television, that's gonna be close to another $1000.

Right now I own a PS3 and my own custom built gaming PC. The PS3 mostly collects dust. My upgrading it within the next year would hardly be the most fiscally responsible decision

Take it fwiw, just my opinion.

e graphics won't take a massive leap forward

but a lot of other things will. Lighting, animation, physics, draw distance detail, and destructible environments will all improve.

So....graphics.

This is what I'm getting at. For Every new generation of consoles, the price of the coneole itself, the games, the accesories is increased. For example, back in the day a new ps1 game just released was like 20-30$ Then for ps2 and xbox a new game was 49.99, now new game is 59.99. The new consoles will be more expensive. Your not going to get a excellent 3d tv for below 1500 or even 2000. Yes the new systems will have better graphics, but wheres the draw? I'm assuming it will be them pushing 3d capabilities, (like how the last gen pushed hdtv--you needed to buy a hdtv or else your ps3 or 360 was esentially no better than a xbox or ps3--graphicas wise atleast)

I guess my point is that idk what the new gen systems are going to offer that we dont currrently have. I cant see them upgrading online too much. Motion controls?--already been done with xbox kinect and playstation move.

But who knows, I am commenting on something I haven't even seen yet. I may find my foor in my mouth when they start to release more information

I disagree. As far as I can remember games were always in the $50 range. NES games were in the $60s.
