Need help with black ops 2

I had some people over playing black ops 2 the other day offline and we tried to put their name in the profile.Instead it would come out John, John2, John3,and John4.Does anybody know how to change it?

They have to log in under their account then it should give them the option to choose their Gamertag.
I think:
Dashboard
Recover account under profiles
They will need their email and password
Then sign in
