I played when I was younger but have been out of the game for a while.
I’m looking for one of the consoles that comes with thousands of older games. Like old 64 games, PlayStation, ps2, etc.
There’s a ton of options online so it makes it hard to know which is the right one. Looking for advice of anyone that maybe owns one and which one to get.

Any of them should be fine, just make sure it has the games you want
They are all pretty much the same, performance-wise

is your interest mostly just the old games and reliving memories or do you want to get into new stuff to?

Think maybe the best option may be an emulator since he wants to play older games?

Better off just buying a PC of some kind, steam deck, ROG Ally, etc and just learn about emulation.

then an emulator of some sort
lots of options really.
something as easy as a prebuilt all in one option. amazon something off amazon like this could fit your needs. They are cheap, and feel like it and can be hit or miss but its very little investment in it. ive used some and got value out of em.
other step would be building something like a raspberry PI. buy a kit, watch some videos and make you own box of games.
Then there is PC and just straight up download emulators onto it to play old games.
if you buy a modern console, alot of them have a limit selection of titles from previous iterations of their consoles, and you have to pay a premium service fee monthly for access to them. i just dont see the value in that myself. IF you wanted new games too, then sure, maybe. (honestly id probably still just go the route of other options for old games though even with a modern console access).
