Just picked up NBA2k18 for XB1. Haven't played 2k since the Sega Dreamcast days ( College Days. So, I'm doing my-gm because I enjoy playing a season more than I enjoy micro-transactions. I'm the Hawks since it's the hometown team and going into this I knew that they were not a good team in real life. So, I wasn't expecting much in the game. Through 10 games, I am 1-9! I'm shooting 26% and just haven't been able to figure the game out. I only play sports games (Madden and FIFA) and I can usually pick up how to play the game pretty quickly. But for some reason I can't figure it out on NBA. Looking for some tips for some of these common frustrations:

--I'm missing a ton of layups which should be automatic
--I'm shooting 26% which is terrible. I am trying to run plays but 90% of the time I can't get anything to happen with the plays. I end up shooting a desperation shot because the shot clock is running out.
--I'm getting dominated in the paint. Probably a user defense issue so what are some tips to play better defense?
--How do I do "moves"? Is it just using the RS or are there other combinations I should be looking at?
--Are there any TD NBA2k online leagues? If not, anyone interested in putting something together?

I played 17, and greatly benefitted from watching YouTube vids that broke down post moves. I became a monster in the paint and quickly had to start dialing up the difficulty.

I never got too good at dribble moves, but I'd kick the ball back out and start draining 3s once they started doubling down on my bigs.

Play it as well. Sadly, I spent 20 bucks for 75k vc. It helped me out quit a bit. Now I can at least, hit an open shot w/o having to greenline a shot.

But yes, it sux.

Never shot less than 40% even on base shitty stats. Maybe, take better shots. Open shots, you should hit around 40% with shitty stats. Yes, you read that right, 40% >.<. Hitting around 60% now with the same shot selection after spending 20 bucks. >.<

Was a big fan of 2k17, couldn't wait to get 2k18... and was severely disappointed.

Shooting is broken in this game. Simple as that. Damn shame, cause it's been a great franchise for a long time.

2k17 was terrible. 2k16 was great until they started to cater to the 3pt spamming scrubs by boosting 3s around the ASB.

Microtransactions went to an absurd level this year. Destroyed the game.

Just got this as a Christmas gift. I'm a total noob. Is the franchise mode deep?

Seems to be pretty deep. I haven't played it much because I just couldn't figure out the timing and i'm tired of missing layups. So much potential in the gameplay, unfortunately the fundamentals are broken.
