The last games I played were No Mercy and Wrestlemania 2000 on N64…it’s been a while.

How do the new 2k WWE games hold up or compare?

The new 2k24 40 years of Wrestlmania looks fun.

I have fond memories of wcw world tour and wcw/nwo revenge. I remember briefly playing wrestlemania 2000.

I picked the WWE games back up with 2k22 & 2k23. 2k got a lot of shite for 2k20 (I believe it was). They went back to the ground and built it back up. I enjoyed both 22 & 23. I'm really looking forward to 24. It has a huge roster and some nice added match options.

Starting around 2006, WWE games started adopting more complex mechanics, abandoning the previous pick up and play nature.

These days I find WWE games exceedingly difficult to play without completing the tutorial first

That doesn't mean I don't enjoy them once I learn the controls. Some modern WWE games control better than others though.

You might want to try the AEW game. It's much more pick up and play akin to old wrestling titles that you are familiar with. Personally, I am not crazy about the game's roster, and it really lacks customization options and match types. The moment to moment gameplay though is solid for what it is.

my experience with wrestling games is brief, and consists of:

WWF Royal Rumble (SEGA Genesis)
WCW/NWO Revenge (N64)
WCW vs NWO: World Tour (N64)

This thread has now piqued my interest in trying a current gen game
