She’s 8 and I already have the PS4, but I primarily use it for movies, Netflix, prime, etc. is the PlayStation VR worth it? What games should I buy for her age? Should I get another console so she isn’t camped out on the other one we watch movies on?

The only game worth it, isn't for her age range.

I got the PSVR for Resident Evil 7. Nope for her.

In pretty much every VR post I say the same thing.

It is awesome and should be the wave of the future but it isn't there yet.

Game studios aren't making major games for VR. I don't know enough about the indie games but I imagine your daughter will think the various VR Experience / Walking Simulators are cool and 1 month after you buy it, dust will start gathering.

If you can watch porn on a PlayStation, then yes, it's worth it for you.

VR is made for creepy horror games. Resident Evil 7 is my favorite most unique gaming experience to date and I'm older than dirt.

But... Since I bought my PSVR in early 2017, not one other game has come out that I was interested in playing.

Not for the PS and not for PC if I was going to buy a system for the PC.

I don't have buyers remorse because I loved the RE7 experience but I also had some money burning a hole in my pocket. I have a feeling it will be an expensive paper weight for your daughter.

Does she have any particular games she wants to play or did she just hear about VR and wants to try it out?

She doesn't really play games, but she saw it on youtube kids or something and is obsessed with this thing now. It's for her birthday and she would more than likely use it a good bit. I am going to go by bestbuy today to see if they have a demo or something to try.I am just worried about getting the right game(s) for her. She is easily impressed, so I think it may work for her. I did get her a new .300 blackout with a scope for a fall back gift.

Have you considered one of the VR headsets that use a smartphone as the display? I don't know what kind of games there are, but it'd be a lot cheaper, and it may be enough to satisfy her since she isn't normally into games.

Had no idea they had those. That’s a great idea.

If you have an old samsung laying around (that is compatible) this would be an easy and cheap way to go about it.

I had one couple years back it was a promotion came with my gs7 edge it worked pretty well.

My brother purchased the psvr for his eight-year-old boy about 2 months ago. The honeymoon is over though and he doesn't really care to play it anymore.

Honestly you would be better off getting one of those headsets your phone goes in.

I loved the one game I played but it should also be mentioned that VR can make lots of folks sick.

It took me several days to get used to the motion sickness and even when I was 100% used to it, I was still slightly queasy.

And if you don't want to go the route of an old phone, you could pick up an Oculus Go for $199.

I had fun with my time with it.

Outside of Resident Evil 7/Until Dawn, the most praised VR titles:
Job Simulator
Firewall: Zero Hour
Superhot VR
Moss
Arizona Sunshine
Sprint Vector
Rez Infinite
Farpoint

Ace Combat 7 also comes out soon and that should be very good.
