I want to play this, but I feel pretty meh about laying down 30 bucks for it.

From what I've heard and what I plan to do, is just really take my time exploring around and take my time with the main mission. I think that's honestly what this is intended for. Explore around, learn about the new age MGS and then do a mission.
I think people buying this expecting it to be just another game to run through will be disappointed.

Same here, play on hard and try to go through undetected. That should take me countless hours

That's a good idea actually. I almost always play full length games on normal bc I hate getting stuck on spots just bc of ridiculous difficulty. But in this case, I just might do that

Its been so long since I've played a MG game the only thing I've managed to accomplish in game so far is getting spotted from one end of the compound to the other.
