The gameplay in ME1 isn’t great by modern standards, but it’s not bad. Just has a learning curve. And it was actually quite good when it was released.

I got Legendary Edition when it was released earlier this year. Life has gotten in the way of my putting a lot of time into it but I'm probably 1/3 thru ME2.
It is just as good as I remember. It's nice to be able to play on the iPad through steam with an xbone controller.

I didn’t read up before on any of them but I did after and apparently it’s supposed to be the best. I don’t see it
And I picked it because I thought it would tanking and I always start games on hardest or second hardest I figured it would help me weather the start.

The biotic/tech powers in ME1 are lackluster across the board. I found Vanguard to be kinda meh in ME1 too. ME2's combat overhaul specifically addresses that issue and Vanguard gets a major boost.
You can actually change your class before each game if you wanted. But Vanguard definitely becomes a tank in the sequels even at higher difficulty levels.

Like another poster said, if you plan on playing it multiple times, just go blind this first go around.
Fair warning though, it only gets worse from here.
Originally, I had no clue you could save anyone on Virmire until ME2 came out and it showed my stats from the previous game.

It arguably becomes the best in later games. It kinda sucks in ME1.
