Everyone always says this—I want to know what someone is running and how much money they spent on a rig that out performs a PS5. I’m running a $4k build with a 6800xt and my PS5 still blows it out the water. Not even gonna talk about the price difference there also.
I have a 3080 gpu, an i7 cpu, a 4k monitor and a 1440/144hz monitor, 16 gb tridentZ ram, 1000W power supply, and Corsair H001i cooler. Can't remember my motherboard.
With all that and the accessories I bought for it (corsair rgb mouse, keyboard, mousepad, fans) it's probably around $5k.
It can handle most things I throw at it on ultra settings.
If your PS5 blows away a $4k build, you may have spent too much

I still use PS4 controller for FPS games
But why?
The best controller player in the world will get owned by keyboard and mouse all day. I can't play Playstation or Xbox for anything fps. The controls are garbage

I suppose I could nitpick your build, but regardless, that should still beat the breaks off of a PS5. If it isn’t, there’s either more of a settings discrepancy than you think, or there’s something wrong with your build.

What exactly makes you think this? Do you understand what a $500 PS5 is capable of?

People running actual, quantitative testing established that a PS5 is the rough equivalent of a top of the line gaming PC from about half a decade ago: Youtube: Gamer's Nexus

Five years is half a fricking decade in tech

Spoiler alert: Steve clocked the graphics performance of the PS5 at roughly a 1060 6GB.

Halo.

I don’t have any quantitative research to prove anything. All I’m saying is that I’ve been playing the same game on optimal setups for each, and the PS5 seems better to me. The PS5 paired with the LG CX is as good as it gets. My PC set up is near ceiling as well. Obviously could always get minor performance boosts by sinking in additional thousands of dollars.
I find myself actually “gaming” on the PS5 more. PC seems like more of a hobby. Much more money and time involved. But like I said, still enjoyable.

Could you suggest a few games that I could try similar comparisons with? Minecraft may not be a great example. I have CP 2077 on PS5 but not sure that would be the best game to go with either.

Seems, how?
Framerate? Graphics? You just prefer to sit on the couch?
Consoles are great value propositions, if you exclude the inflated price of games. But you said that your PS5 blows your 6800xt system out of the water. That's simply not possible unless something in your system is broken.

I'll defer to others who do console gaming, but Horizon Zero Dawn and Red Dead Redemption 2 jump out at me. But again, I'm not the best source for something like that.
But yeah, base Minecraft is crazy cpu bound, and I could conceivably see a scenario in which a newer gen cpu might play a little cleaner than a previous gen cpu with more cores (that the game won't use).

Halo's aim assist favors the controller players faarrrrr more
Games like swat and team snipers would be better on kb/m, but that's it

Well then I feel like that ignored a very important caveat in my statement

Overall smoothness, ease of play (basically plug and play). I can glance over at his screen and see the smoothness compared to mine. Check my fps and I’m running 180+ consistently while the PS5 is at 120. I understand that this may most likely be fixed in Radeon software somehow but I’ve spent HOURS doing this. Every single game is different and requires it’s own settings and tweaking. Then I have to run steam, origin, Xbox game launcher… have to have a whole separate friend list for each, etc. But we are talking performance so that’s besides the point.
Don’t get me wrong I love my PC and it’s a whole different experience. I would sell it if I didn’t enjoy it. But a $500 (I’ll say $1700 if we include the TV) console vs a $4k pc we are talking here.

What you're noticing is that max fps isn't everything. I bet if you looked at it, you're getting massive frametime spikes, as they cause microstutters that can be extremely distracting.
Depending on the game, there are different ways to fix it, but frankly, because Minecraft is such a mess, I would just cap my framerate at something like 120hz. That should smooth out most of your hitches.
But to circle all the way back around, yeah, Minecraft is an absolutely awful test case

Just get a mouse with 12ish buttons on the side so you can map any controls that feel too wonky using on the kb.
Other than that it's not bad to get used to.
