Just curious. How do you go about doing these sets? Do you buy the players?


Maybe it's just because the sets I've looked at are older but it seems most I look at the total cost of completing the set ends up being higher than just buying the card from the AH.

You know, there are some games that Madden will simply not let you win no matter what you do.



Just played a guy.

First play of the game, he throws an out route, I jump it perfectly, should be an easy pick 6, the ball fricking teleports through Woodson into the receiver's hands. The receiver had 88 speed, and both my safeties (95 and 96 speed) couldn't get an angle and chase him down. 75 yard TD.


I get the ball, throw a pick on my first play because fricking Gates just decided to stop running his route.

I have him on a 4th and 6, he starts to scramble, I've got him dead to rights, he crosses the LOS, and does a forward shovel pass that's tipped by my player right into Lamar Miller's hands, he runs for a TD. No Flag.

Next drive, I go for it on 4th and 5, Nicks drops a wide open slant. His ball at my 20. Hold him to a field goal.

Next drive, 1 8 yard run, a -2 yard run, 2 straight drops by Gates. Hold him to another field goal.

It's 20-0 at Halftime.

I get the ball, throw another pick on a Go Route, it was a jump ball that Jeffrey would catch almost 95% of the time, nope, interception. He chews up the next 2 minutes in that gay arse split back formation, kicks another field goal.


I get the ball, finally put a drive together to score a TD, get the 2pt conversion, :28 left in 3rd.


I stop him on the next drive after he chews up another 90 seconds. I drive the ball again, score, 2pt conversion. 1:00 left, 3 timeouts. Get him to 4th down, he hits a wide open Lamar Miller in the flats, I make the tackle, he's SHORT BY A WHOLE frickING YARD.


Booth review, call is overturned, 1st down.

I think I have this defense thing figured out. Just finished a season 9-1. In my one loss I gave up 21 points (made some bad decisions on offense). The rest of the games I never gave up more than 7 points and had 3 shutouts

Yep. Unfortunately just faced my first one in the divisional round...I only needed one more badge for the Veterans set I've been trying to get. Annoying as shite. Now I have to play a whole season to get the one badge I need.

How are you supposed to counter the nano blitzing? All I had time to throw were the routes to the flat with the RB

Depending on the nano they were using, it can usually be slowed by pinching or shifting your line, blocking a HB, motioning a TE behind your guard to block, or any combo of the 3. Really just trial and error

Yep. Especially the trial and error. MUT games are relatively short but when I was in a "sim" (not the TD league, that was a good league) there was one guy in my division that was a good user, but on crucial 3rd downs or 2nd downs just inside the 40, he'd dial up a nickel nano or one of the zone blitz ones out of 3-4. If I tried to beat him down the seam (I had the window, technically) it would be picked because it was hardly developed and any speed LB would take that bait. I started throwing dink and dunk screens or having a guy stay in and block to try to get the seam to materialize.

Really, you just have to find where the nano is coming from and why. Manipulating blocks to get the guy unblocked? I've found running straight into those with powers worked too. Then toss in a toss and a few dives.

Yeah most nanos are complete shite outside of the instant pass rush, so they're easy to run on, or throw on once you pick up the blitz. The one out of Dime Flat was the only one that was nearly unbeatable and that's been patched AFAIK

Is there anything more satisfying than playing shitty for three quarters and scoring three unanswered TDs in the fourth to win the game?

I don't think there is. I think I've done it three or four times now
