I disagree. I've played both extensively and eventually stuck exclusively with WoW. The end-game is vastly superior. The content, imo, is better and more diverse. You can do anything in WoW. The only thing i liked better about LoTR was my familiarity with the back story. In WoW I had to learn the lore from scratch, but its a great story.

Just finished the ten trials witrh both WoW and LOTRO, and liked both.

Honestly, liked LOTRO a bit more. I got two classes to 20 in WoW, a mage and a priest. Loved the mage, hated the priest. I don't know how anyone levels a priest to 80 in WoW without going nuts.

I got 12 characters to level 10 in LOTRO in ten days, plus one to 13 and one to twenty. And every class I played in LOTRO was fun to play.

The class I liked the least was guardian, the main tank class, which really didn't surprise me.

The other two tank classes, champion and warden played much different and were much more fun to play.

The most fun I had in LOTRO was with Rune-Keeper, Hunter, and Warden. Warden is hands down the most fun tank class I've ever played in any game.

Bottom line is, in WoW, you'll have fun classes like mage, which is a blast btw, and not so fun classes like priest.

LOTRO, pretty much any class you play is a winner.

I can't speak about the end game for LOTRO, since I haven't seen it. I can speak about WoW's end game, since it was that factor that caused me to leave the first time.

Right now, I'm playing the EQII fourteen day trial. So far, not as impressed with that game as I am with WoW and LOTRO. It's a lot clunkier game, not as user-friendly IMHO.

Shadow.

Holy will make you contemplate suicide, unless you level by healing instances, or have a tank/dps partner.

Disc is versatile, but can still lead to slow painful leveling.

With the expansion in WoW, I hear you don't have to be constantly respec'ing, so a priest can easily carry a shadow set and a holy set and just flip their skills whenever they need to.

I think WoW is probably a better game if you haven't played either. It's very friendly to both casual and hardcore gamers. Leveling from 1-60 has been made very easy so that shouldn't be a problem.

I've only played LotRO but have been enjoying it immensely, primarily because Lord of the Rings has been my favorite set of books since I first read them when I was 14. Granted, the "kill x number of orcs" and "recover x number of chest" quests can get tiresome (although I understand WoW has the same problem to some degree), the chance to explore places like Weathertop, Gollum's Cave and the Mines of Moria makes it well worthwhile.

FWIW, I've run across a bunch of former WoW players in LotRO and when I asked them what was the main reason why they switched, most said it was because they were tired of immaturity on WoW - LotRO seems to attract an older crowd (I'm 47 and a couple of friends I've made in the game are in their 50s and 60s; most of the people I've run across are well into their late 20s and 30s).

I just got LOTRO. I like what it has to offer. Player housing, great crafting abilities...

I think one of the things that LOTRO has that WoW will never have: Un-changeable lore. Your gameplay is actually set along-side the LOTR books, so you'll see Tom Bombadil, Aragorn as Strider, etc. as you move along the main plotline. WoW changes it's lore constantly, which bugs a lot of people.

I hope no on minds if I necro this thread, as it's not that old.

I've completely changed my mind about EQII...I love it. The classes, the races, the gameplay...everything.

Fave classes have to be Shadowknight, Brigand, and Fury. I played each of those to 20 in different zones, and each zone rocked! I'd have to sat my favorite zone so far would be the Timorous Deep, the Sarnak zone.

I love the degree of customization you can do to your characters as far as both look and spec. I've never felt so empowered.

One word of advice: if you do decide to try out EQII, roll your characters on the Antonia Bayle server. It's by far the most populous server, so you'll have a better chance of getting groups later on when you want to do heroic quests.

WoW, LOTRO, and EQII all have something to offer. I just like the EQII classes the best out of the three games. Graphically, LOTRO is hands down the best-looking of the three, and WoW probably has the most content.

But vanilla WoW and BC WoW are ghost towns, whereas LOTRO and EQII do a better job of keeping older zones relevant.

They're going to try and change that with Cataclysm. Heroic Deadmines sounds very interesting.

Some people don't like the WoW lore, but it's really freaking deep. I like the fact that it's constantly expanding.

except for the DK's farming minerals

I did enjoy some of the story lines, but I wished they kept going with them. Some just kind of fizzled out after a few quests.

I'm seriously thinking of restarting my LOTRO and dumping WOW....and of course hoping for a great Star Wars TOR

The Old Republic looks like a solo game. And the videos I have seen that show combat are horrendous. That combat looks so slowly paced to me, that I have lost a lot of interest in the game

Although I loved EQII, I'm going to hold off making a decision on my next MMo until after I've tried a few more trials.

I'm on the Vanguard trial right now, and my first impression is the graphics in this one are awfully dated compared to WoW, LOTRO, and EQII.

Only got two characters so far, a Druid and a Ranger. Ranger starts off pretty weak IMO, judging by how mobs have to be finished off in melee range. Whereas the Druid kills everything before it gets to him, thanks to being able to root them.

Going to try out shaman next, for the shape-changing aspect of that class.
